Or maybe they shouldn't but it seems like a novel idea. I'm watching The Real Me from Rock Honors on youtube and my god...they really play the fuck out of Who songs.

i'd love to hear them do whos next!!
  • i want them to cover Pink Floyd's The Wall, or Dark Side of the Moon

I always thought Eddie would do good singing songs like Money and Us and Them. But pulling off Dark Side or The Wall is such a project. They could tear right through a Who album giving the songs a hard edge and even leaving spots open for jamming.

phish plays different bands full album every halloween as their "costume"--one of the coolest things ive heard a band do and im not even that into them...they covered quadriphinia i think

  • I wouldn't mind seeing the band do a full-on Who covers album. Just hunker down in the studio for a bit and crank out an album of Who covers. Or cover an entire Who album (Who's Next might be best, but Ed loves him some Quadrophenia). I realize critics hate this sort of thing, but who cares. I think it'd be a fun diversion for them and for the fans. A nice little curio to throw in between studio recordings. Nothing big, just a fun toss-off. They really are the best band out there at covering Who songs, bar none.

I can see it happening live one day after Pete is gone, but hopefully that's a long way off. Don't see them doing it while Pete lives. Not sure why though. They would do a brilliant job no doubt.

A little off-topic, but my favorite Who cover album.

Petra Haden sings: The Who Sell Out

acapella cover of the entire album.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

    So why be satisfied?
  • this would be cool...

...back in 97 or 99 ed played an enitre Who set with c-average, billed as "the quick ones"... they didnt play an entire who album... but the whole set consisted of who songs... pretty cool stuff...recording isnt the best but well worth it for only the hardest of fans ;)
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

Yeah I've heard this set with C-Average too and it's pretty good (but like you said, it's low-quality boot). Yeah something like that would be cool. It doesn't need to be an album. But it would be really cool if they dressed up like the The Who and did a set.....maybe on Oct 31.

That's fine but just not at a show I'm attending. I see them so infrequently that all I want them to play is their own music. I would say that if PJ did a concert with only songs from The Who in 2009, and if The Who did a concert in 2009, the PJ concert would probably a better show. I think PJ is at a peak right now.

I know they would do a better job on any who cover especially anything from quadrophenia, because I heard the Who live last year and Daltrey's voice is shot he cant hit any high notes at all they sounded pretty crappy and I am a who fan, but I know Eddie would do a great job especially since he loves the Who!

that would be awesome if Pete could sorta semi-joined Pearl Jam...that would pretty much add the entire Who catalog to PJ's catalog...

Well,Daltrey is 65 after all.I can only imagine how E.V. will sound at that age.The way he shreds his voice, not to mention the smoking.
Daltrey in his prime blows Vedder out of the water.
