Good, reasonable framers in NYC?

Hi everyone, particularly fellow NYers. Where do you guys go for your framing needs? I recently took a few posters to Michaels and the guy said $250 each. Ummm... that's a little absurd, but maybe that's just the market? Anyway, the dude said that there is no where cheaper to go but I find that hard to imagine. What's the deal?

  • the deal with Michaels, or AC Moore, is that they constantly have 50%, 60%, or even 70% off sales. So instead of just doing it at a reasonable price, they beat you over the head with some outrageous price, then go ino the hard sell about how it's your lucky day---we're currently running a 50% off sale. I've had some work done at both, I just wait for the 70% off. I've had them done for as little as $35 (Fargo 2003) and as much as $125 (MSG & Fleet Center 2004, band photo's, not artwork)

When you brought your poster to Michaels and got quoted $250, what was included? Fore example, what type of wood, what type of matting, were they going to use glass or plexi, was it UV, acid backing, museum mounting, etc.etc.

Where the price hits you is whether you choose metal or wood framing, that can jump the price.
    Too many shows to list:
From my first show in Hawaii when they opened for RHCP to upcoming 2016 MSG and Wrigley. Seen them in every continent except Africa and Antarctica.

The guy really seemed like he was making those decisions for me, and I just took that for pretty standard stuff. Looks like he may have just been trying to dupe me. A lot of "we're really gonna need to"'s came from his mouth.

Haha, when he rolled out the posters he said, "Pearl Jam, huh? I didn't think they were even around anymore." That should have been my cue to leave immediately, but it only took a few more moments with him for me to do that. That guy has no business touching my MSG night 1.
