"We've put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and we've done it in a way that we think will be good for everybody," Vedder says. He understands why some fans may be confused about the deal, but he says, "I can't think of anything we've ever done without putting it through our own personal moral barometer. Target has passed for us. The fans just have to trust us."

I was one of those "confused" fans at the start of all this...But you know what, if that quote was in fact from Ed, then it's really what I needed to hear...

Yeah he said it. It never really bothered me at all, but I could see why some people were a little alarmed at first. When you stop and think about it though, it really shouldn't be offensive to anyone. The boys aren't screwing the fans or rolling over for a corporate sponsor. All is good in my view.

It's like Jeff said in a recent interview. They were on Sony for 7 albums, why on earth this Target deal is shocking fans is beyond me. Pearl Jam are not Fugazi, more like a cooler version of U2.
