By all means, come visit our National Parks and spend a lot of money. Lord knows our economy needs it. Maybe if we get enough extra business the Parks could get a little more money carved out of the budget. There is over $1 billion worth of repairs and upgrades needed for the National Parks.

my father, an italian immigrant shared your view. growing up, we took one annual vacation as a family, and it was always within the US. every year we went to just about a new state or at least a new part of a state, national parks, big, beautiful cities, etc. i got to see a LOT of the US growing up, and still have so much more to see! i didn't travel abroad until the age of 15? i think. went to london for a wedding. since then i have done a LOT of travel abroad, but still always do some travel in the US too. so typical of me....i want to do both.

I think a balance of both is good. Obviously the US is much bigger than little old blighty, so there's probably a difference for someone living here to there. But the UK can be incredibly beautiful in places, a lot I've seen already, but I also love going overseas and seeing other wonderful places. It's a big world so it's good to sample as much of it as you can.

I agree. I have never been to another country, except Canada and Mexico. I have traveled the US a lot and still have a lot I want to see. I think I've been in every state in the lower 48. Its a big country with lots of diversity.

watching that show makes me want to see almost all the national parks as well as other countries. So far I've been to two (Rainier and Yosemite).

I'm in love with this country, I want to see so many things here, but I'm not talking about national parks, I'm talking about the cities (concrete jungles!) OMG! I've been to L.A., Seattle, Baltimore, D.C., N.Y., Chicago, Houston, San Antonio, and a few places here in Florida, and i love every single place, I've been always welcomed , I'm an immigrant and all I can say is that this is the most beautiful country, most generous, with the best people and the biggest heart! I even cry hearing the USA national anthem.

When I get tired of the cities I'll go to the grand canyon and yellow stone :D

I didn't realize why the upkeep of national parks were a big deal until I saw the Grand Canyon. OMG! Golly what a gully! It blew my mind. It was 22 years ago, and until that time the best scenery was the view of NYC from a road in my town.

I would love to take a trip on America's scenic byways and visit the National Parks during the non-peak times. I've seen a bit of the Ken Burns documentary. I would love to hear his one on music - i think it was blues, wasn't it?

I say go oversees. Its so exhilarating to be in a foreign country, different culture, different language (sometimes), living out of a back pack and totally wingin' it. Just awesome.
