I decided to stop holding off on the record player. Its been a few years I have been compiling a collection along with some old vinyl from my kid years. I have around 150 albums, maybe 15 singles. I have bigger plans but for now, I just got the less than $200 player connected to my old Yamaha reciever from the early 90s and Paradign speakers. Nothing special but its mine.

First listen:
Vitalogy

Followed by:
Dark Side of the Moon
Because of the Times (Kings of Leon)
Lonesome Jubillee (Mellancamp)
Backspacer
Unforgettable Fire
Mirrorball is on now ....

Next? Dylan, maybe the Stones, (wish I had Binaural)...maybe one of the Christmas singles.

Its a pleasure really to be doing this. There is nothing like pulling that record from its sleeve, reading liner notes, flipping from side A to side B.

  • Lame to reply to your own thread, but I didnt want to start the debate on vinyl vs cd.. but I have done some comares with my cd's to the same lp, and the lp in many cases sounds different. Less up front, more open...warm is overused, but thats my take. I like it!
