Only a ramble, not anything like a poem in the least

So often, I wonder what the reasons are for the discrepancy between what people may feel and what they say. Is life so complicated that people don't even understand themselves?! Or, maybe they don't feel free to pull out what they actually feel? Maybe they say what they THINK they should feel rather than what they actually DO feel? Perhaps they don't even know they are sending out conflicting messages? (Or, maybe they are intending to trick others?)

Do most people (unlike me) only notice the surface? Or, maybe everyone but me knows to weigh the underlying impression heavier than the top layer?! Maybe they notice everything, but it doesn't confuse them? (Or, maybe they don't notice anything so it doesn't confuse them?!)

Why do I feel like I'm the only one confused by this issue?!!!

And, I honestly find this a complicated problem. Is it more grown up not to worry about this but to assume that people know what they are doing when they throw up a surface to give to someone? Maybe this is the only message they are trying to get out there?! Maybe the underlying message in conflict is something they don't intend to express but it's there never-the-less? Wouldn't communication be easier if people were more unified in their feelings and expressions?

yeah not really a problem i have. if i feel it or if i think it then i invariably say it.

but like you a.m i do wonder what is up with people when they choose not to say what they truly think or feel. my fave is when they say, i dont want to hurt you. or it doesnt matter when what they really mean is i dont want to have to deal with the shitstorm i know will result from what it is i really want to say. it amazes me the fortunetelling some people think theyre capable of in regards to them knowing how another will react to something based usually on how others have reacted. anyhoo...
    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say

Since I put this up, I've noticed that the underlying ideas ARE usually the more important ones and that's why they need to be pulled out. :geek:

I was working on a song with a voice student this week and our job was to work out how she was going to give the audience the clue that the character was insane by how she projected the text and moved on stage. It was almost funny how this addressed my question about this. It's part of the song that the story is supposed to be about how what's she's saying and what we're supposed to notice are two different things. :? :D

The thought the timing of it was interesting. :)
