    yes!

"MP3 (and AAC) is a lossy format. Sound quality varies depending on the source material and your bitrate. FLAC is a lossless format. Sound quality is exactly the same as the source and will stay that way forever. Transcoding, encoding one format into another, will never result in a quality loss if you use lossless codecs (FLAC, Monkey's Audio, et cetera). It will result in a quality loss each time you convert lossy codecs (MP3, AAC, et cetera)."

Personally, I would prefer buying the CD. Cause you can make/rip your own flac's & mp3's with the CD. That's just me!
  • id say just go with cd cuz its only a few bucks more than FLAC

  • The Mp3's sound good despite being degraded in quality, but one of the things that really bothers me is how there are gaps between songs. I like FLAC/CD becuase it flows straight through like it should.

Depends on the bitrate, how good your hearing is and how good your speakers are.. I'm just as happy with a 256 kbps as I am with flac. Be your own judge and sample and compare the too.

I wouldn't burn the mp3s as wave files to cd.. you're just messing up the quality even more. Just play the mp3 files straight without upconverting them to a cd and there should be no gap.
