Hi all,

Here it goes. I decided to surprise my girlfriend with a trip to Austin (we are from Alberta, Canada) for the ACL festival. By the time I had clearance that she would be able to get time off of work all of the tickets had sold out. I decided to use StubHub to get us 3 day passes and then booked a flight and hotel for the weekend after the tickets arrived.

Much to my shagrin (and to your little shock at this point I'm sure) the tickets we received were fraudulent. I would never have used a third party unless the situation was what it was. I felt like throwing up and my hand on the phone to StubHub was shaking tremendously. After my wonderful girlfriend calmed me down we decided we are going to make the best out of this shitty situation (and hopefully get some money back from StubHub) and enjoy the city of Austin. We will be trying to get tickets to Sundays show so she can see PJ for the first time. We did talk to some people selling on the street (scalpers obv) and their prices were insanely high and I'm also very leery about using a third party from the street after what has already happened. I was wondering if any 10club members will be at the show and if anyone has 2 tickets they can sell to us? I truly trust the Pearl Jam community and would much rather deal with someone from here than a complete stranger who couldn't tell the difference between a picture of Eddie and a picture of Jesus.

Since I am using an internet cafe to write this I will leave my number on the forum for anyone who can help out to call. Again, I trust this community so hopefully this isn't another mistake lol.

My number is (403)393-3550 and my name is Brian. I hope someone can help make a not so great weekend into a great one.

Thanks so much!

I can't help you because I am on the couch at home in Southern Illinois. However, the best place to get tickets at this late date is at a Wishlist fundraiser. I haven't kept up with that so I am not even sure if there is one since it is a festival. However, I bet there is a meet-up somewhere but it may be inside the festival which would not help, but maybe out. If you could just find out where the other PJ fans are hanging out, or what hotel they are at....... Just a thought. Good luck. Most people in Austin for the festival may not be checking the pit. Sorry.

  • Cool...thanks for the heads up. If anyone knows where a Wishlist benefit may be taking place it is appreciated. We are holding up well (my girlfriend and I)...just went to Target lol..was cool for us since we don't have it in Canada. Took a picture of a yeild sign with the target logo in the background and I also snabbed a shot of the Pearl Jam CD set up in the store before I security guard told me I can't have my camera out...weird.

  • i would try walking down barton springs road at zilker park again. and be patient. yes, there is a risk. but you can also get a feel for who is a scalper and who is just a fan. you can always have them follow you two and wait while one of you walks in. ive done this before.

please be very careful if they try to sell you a wristband. at this point its most likely used. last night, like every single year, i see people buying up used wristbands from festival goers who arent going to acl on sunday for like 20 to 40 bucks with the intention to turn around and sell it on sunday. this year, the wrist bands have bar codes which they scan every single day. so that part may work. the problem is, they inspect the wristbands after they have been scanned. first two days they gave it a good yank. so taping it back on, is a risk.

fyi. i overheard single day tickets for yesterday were in the 100 to 120 range.
    I miss you hippiemom.

  • First off, thank you to everyone who replied either in the thread or in a PM.

We ended up getting tickets for the show on Sunday. One was FREE! and the other at face value which was super awesome of both guys who helped. That just showed the truly great spirit of the community and is a testament to the positive power of their music. Also, thank you to the many other offers we had after we already had tickets. We had a great time and due to our "misfortune" we avoided the rain on Saturday and were completely rested and ready to rock out on Sunday (which we did).

Again, thanks to everyone who offered to help and to the two guys who did get tickets for us. It was very uplifting on what could have been a downer of a trip.
