You know I have them all the time in S Florida. You light a big bonfire in the front yard after clearing all of my brush.

From Wiki 'Guy Fawkes Night is an annual celebration on the evening of 5 November. It marks the downfall of the Gunpowder Plot of 5 November 1605, in which a number of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to destroy the Houses of Parliament, in London, United Kingdom.
It is primarily marked in the United Kingdom where it was compulsory, by fiat, until 1859, to celebrate the deliverance of the King of Great Britain; but, it is also celebrated in former British colonies including New Zealand,[1] Newfoundland, South Africa, and parts of the Caribbean. Bonfire Night was celebrated in Australia until the mid- to late 1970s, when sale and public use of fireworks was made illegal and the celebration was effectively abolished. It is also celebrated in the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda .[2] Festivities are centred on the use of fireworks and the lighting of bonfires.'
Hope that helps.
Obviously it wasn't last night, but when it's in the week most Bonfire parties are at the weekend.
Gosh, I find loads of places romantic, but the main one that springs to mind, mainly because it was quite moving was on Boxing day the year after the Tsunami, on a beach on Koh Lanta in Thailand. It was a beautiful, warm night, and paper lanterns were being sent into the sky to commemorate the year since the Tsunami. It was special for me also as I was with the two people I love the most, my husband and my son. It was also a year to the day since my husband had been involved in a serious car accident and I got that awful 'your husband has been in an accident please come to the hospital' phonecall, then taken to the relatives room on arrival (at which point I was convinced he had died). I had a big kiss and a cuddle from both my husband and son and we stood on the beach with the waves lapping at our toes watching the lanterns float into the sky, it was a really special moment, full of lots of thoughts and love.

I worked on the 98th floor of the Tower 1 of the World Trade Center in NY.
A major blast went off in the basement (which if 40 yards in another direction would have knocked the building down(8 years early)
It took us 3 hours to get out of the building after inhaling tons of smoke wound up in hospital for the night.
Although the good news for me personally was that our company broke the lease. If I had been there on 9/11, my floor was the floor where the plane hit.
Will they ever build the new buildings above the old WTC site?

Gosh that was a long answer.

I hope not, I'm for the memorial garden idea. I think relatives/friends/everyone needs somewhere to visit and remember what happened.
Do you think they'll ever find Bin Laden?
