I've been in a prison but not as a prisoner, I worked with a project whose volunteers were all prisoner serving there sentances at a local open prison. I worked with them to develop plans and training for when they were released. I didn't know what the crimes were, they could tell me but I couldn't ask. It was very interesting work

Yes as a witness, I didn't have to go when I drove into someone, just sent in a little statement. Did have to go to the toilet in a prison cell at the police station once .... a long time ago.
