    I brought my friend a record called "easy listening for your plants" with a string quartet on the cover surrounded by ferns. It is from the 70s and it is hilarious.

    A few years ago I was at a fundraiser art auction, and there was this piece about homelessness that I fell in love with. I work with mentally ill homeless people, and at the time I thought I was going to be quitting my job and leaving the city. I really wanted to buy it for myself as a farewell to my life here. It quickly went out of my price range, and my dear friend who I had invited to the event bought it for me. He swooped in as the high bidder. I hang it proudly. I'm still at my job, but hopefully only a few more months.
