I'm more of a "just wants to be in the building" type of guy, so my seats mean nothing to me. You really need to have an energetic crowd, which I think the band feeds off, which usually means a good show.
that said, the seller here says the dates on the side commemorate the 9 years PJ has played LA. I thought it represents their 9th album...and the dates are the years they were released? Am I high....still?
song selection ... numero uno .... and it's not even close.
seat ... helpful ... but, as long as I'm in 10c seats, I'm fine ...no matter where those 10c seats are.
crowd energy ... helps, but, I'm usually too much in my own happy place to worry about what the hell is going on around me. Having a few folks around you that are into as much as you is nice, but, not needed. Some very special moments come from the crowd (see: Betterman Mansfield 1 2008) ... but, overall, not too important.
length of show ... eh, I've been to fantatic shows that were shorter ... and some shows that were a bit of a drag, even though they had more tunes. Not really important.
alcohol ... while it may have been a hint annoying that we couldn't bring beers down to the seats at the key area, I can safely say, it didn't lessen my experience one bit, and I probably walked out of there with a few more bucks than I had planned.

song selection (rarities/covers etc)
length
booze
*but i might choose seats over crowd. though tricky. i had lawns in toronto this summer, and although it was still great, i didn't ''feel'' the crowd, which would have made it so much more awesome. so even though the crowd was awesome, it didnt make up for the seats. though, in an arena it wouldnt be an issue. the strucure of an amphitheatre made seats more valuable to the experience. so the * is assuming we're in an arena setting. Crowd energy tends to drive the rest of the show ...band happy, play longer and rarer songs etc.

It never matters where my seats are. I'm just happy to be inside the venue and seeing PJ.
just be sure your flight is gonna make it,...

Song selection just barely beats out seat location for me. I HATE having crappy seats (though I usually have good ones--thanks Ten Club!)....but I don't like a yucky set list either.
those are all that REALLY matter, although it does make a slight difference who i'm there with and how buzzed i am. there's a fine line between enhancing the experience and clouding it.

And also, great crowd energy can turn a middle of the road set list into a great show.

Me just being there is my most important...everything else always just always falls into shape and it always ends up great.
I don't mean me literally, but me in the sense that just being at a concert is the most important thing.

Yea no more connecting flights for me if a PJ show is involved.
