Love the song. Pretty far out there for PJ. I usually love it when PJ get far out there.

Unthought Known is the best song on the album, I've discovered.

Absolutely LOVE this song! It's definitely a different style for PJ, in several ways (whereas Amongst the Waves is classic PJ), and it really works for me. Just love the vibe, the playfulness of the lyrics, etc. ;)

share the love bro, i love the way ed spits out the lyrics, the riff is so cool, i gotta hear this live!!!!!
  • A lot of people seem to be saying that this song is a "new direction" for Pearl Jam. That's because they haven't been paying attention to the last half dozen songs Matt wrote for the band. "Johnny Guitar" is nothing new. It's just more greatness from Matt.

When I heard the snippet I wasn't sure I would like it. But it is the song that I have listened to the most on my Ipod! I love it, especially the mini-guitar riff around the 1:04. It isn't my favorite, no, that goes to Just Breathe and The End, but I do love this song.

Can't wait to hear live next week, should be great!

I really loved this song since day 1. Really resonated with me.... It seems of all the songs on the album people are most divided by this track. They either love it or hate it.....

Its the one thats always stuck in my head! For years I had been hopin that when she came, she'd be comin just for me, ed is great, the end of the song is pure PJ even though the song is quite a departure for the band! Love it!

    It's a great song.
It reminds me of a Jack White song, the way it goes in different directions.

While your name is one of PJ's worst IMO, Johnny G is my fav track on the new album. Although, I think Stone deserves the credit for the riff, and then Matt must have changed the time signature to give it that off-beat sound. Another song that on first listen was only average at best, it grows on me and suddenly I realize it is a great song!
I hold the pain, release me!

I'm pretty sure that Matt wrote it, and Stone helped arrange it.

Love this song. Def one of my most favorites at this point. Great vocals that are fun to sing, perfect 80s ounding interlude guitar piece that sounds nothing like PJ, and the guitars at the end that sound so PJ.
Twenty-ten watch it go to fire!!!
  • i think its more than just a fun ride. the lyrics may be silly, but they are smartly written, and the music is just fantastic the way it effortlessly switches gears without sounding awkward (like most Matt songs)

Very cleverly written lyrics, I agree.

And I find myself always loving Matt's unique work.
