Got Some/Devo's Gut Feeling

So there's been talk around cyberspace that Got Some is, depending who you ask, a direct rip off at most, or a coincidentally similar song to Devo's "Gut Feeling". I've never had a really good ear for this stuff, unless it's really blatant. Honestly, not saying this b/c i'm a fan of PJ, I don't hear it. Take a listen and decide for yourself.
My point is, if PJ is proven to have ripped the song off, I think they should have to do an entire tour in these outfits:

I think that's more than sufficient punishment.

Why not (V) (°,,,,°) (V) ?
Were you 12 in 1983?
I don't wouldn't call it a 'rip off' because that sounds like they're trying to get away with something shady. It's more like an omage or something like that
why...yes. yes I was. 12 years old exactly in 1983...guess i shouldve kept my trap closed.
DEVO is great.
Mike was interviewed on a radio station some months back and he requested for a few songs to get played, and his 1st choice was Devo's Gut Feeling,...

The real question here. Devo's Uncontrollable Urge ripping off Zeppelins Misty Mountain Hop?
Got Some is a good song.
Think of it this way, listen to ANY song (especially anything 2000+) in your music library and tell me there isnt SOMETHING in that song that is similar to hundreds of other songs. Bands borrow ideas all the time, Im willing to bet there isnt a single guitar riff that hasnt already been done.

Hail, Hail!!!
We had barely gotten in to "Got Some" when my dad, not a PJ fan by any real stretch, says to me: "This sounds like a Devo song."
I had never mentioned the "controversy" to him before and he barely knows how to use email, let alone a PJ msg board.
Just thought I'd share.
As a matter of fact Devo wore it better, because they did it first 32 years ago. The chord progressions might be different but it's the same basic beat in a different key. I don't think Devo would have a case in court if they'd want to bring up a lawsuit. Hell, Saul Zaentz sued John Fogerty for plagiarizing himself? What the hell was that all about. I also think anyone that's on this board who's a musician should ask themselves if they've ever stolen a riff here or there?
On a related note, I just saw Devo last Friday night doing the whole "Are We Not Men" album. It was one of the best and wildest shows I've ever been to, and I've seen GWAR. Dorks can go pretty wild. And as a matter of fact I happen to be a huge PJ fan.
It was their first album which came out in '78 which was actually titled:
"Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!"
In my opinion, it's their best, and the show totally kicked ass.
