There hasn't been a "secret" appearance from anyone in the band since Ed originally came on to sing the end of "Black" for Dave.
I don't see this happening at all being they have always had something to promote (not just a tour, but something for Dave to hold up to announce the band), and they have always announced Pearl Jam ahead of time.
I hope I am wrong, but I really don't think I will be. Sorry.
like yours perhaps? you know the one where you get on your computer log onto pearljam.com log onto the message board open a thread and leave a comment about getting a life?
i have a question for you:
did your parents ground you?
hahahahahaha

maybe they didn't announce it because they didn't know if they could make it or not- like if they can it's great but if they can't there isn't a PR nightmare
Artie from Howard Stern says this happens all the time with guests because he is one of Letterman's fill ins. They keep bands and comics in th NYC area ready to replace acts that can't make it at the last minute. Artie did this 2 weeks ago when a big guest didn't make the taping.

well i guess we will all have a good time listening to Artie tomorrow night
That'll be four straight nights of perfomances though, I know the Letterman will be very short but after tonight do you think they might want to rest for Tuesday and Wednesday???

Letterman tapes 2 shows on Monday. Monday's & Friday's ( I think) If there's a musical guest for Friday perhaps setting up for 2 is too much to do. So no musical guest on Monday?

The David Letterman TV Show tapes five times a week at the following tape times and days:
MONDAY - 5:30PM and 7:30PM
TUESDAY - 5:30PM
WEDNESDAY - 5:30PM
THURSDAY - 5:30PM

not alot of setup if ev comes out with an acoustic and does a song.
I wanted to punch him and Tim McCarver in the face during the '03/04 MLB playoffs, every 5 minutes they would mention something about the Curse of the Bambino and 85/86 years without a championship for the Red Sox, and its like no shit, we know! Thanks for rubbing it in and saying things like 'well the Red Sox have the curse and can't/won't beat the Yankees" was really annoying and really bias. Good thing the Sox proved them wrong.
It still makes no sense to me. Can someone point me to a link that confirms this? So Friday's show is always 4 days old before its aired?
If you had a job that gave you Friday's off (maybe you do, but I'm giving a hypothetical here) but had to put in a "double shift" on one of the other days, wouldn't you rather do it early on in the week to get it over? I would hate to be there on a Thursday with a 3 day weekend smacking me in the face, but with twice as much work to get done before I can enjoy it.
Also, Tuesday is the big release day for major media (big time movies, DVD's music, etc) so most of the stars are in NYC on Monday to begin promoting. It probably makes scheduling a bit easier to do the Friday taping on Monday.

I can confirm it. I was at a Monday taping of a Friday show about two years ago.
Kinda silly, I agree. And it's funny to listen to his material when you see the Friday show on the air; it's very generalized in what it covers, and there are no references to anything that happened from Tuesday through Thursday.

Yes - they tape 2 shows on Monday - dave likes his Friday's off, so yes, Friday's show is 4 days old.
No musical guest confirmed for tonight as of yet. My contact has received no updates on tonight's guests.
