Important to log those extra treadmill miles before a tour and pace yourself on show day not to drink or smoke too much. This can be difficult for some.
made me laugh...and it definitely is!
i find if i do 3-5 shows in close proximity, i tend to injure myself.
it's happened 2 tours now - 2006 in italy and 2008 in NYC, tho it didn't happen in 2005 with 4 shows - the gorge/western canada, maybe i have to watch out for the odd # shows only or the even # years?... :P . i don't really have any muscle issues, tho sure may get a general soreness. my big issue is losing my voice, and when i am lucky enough to be close....my hearing.... . i really, really need to embrace the earplugs. i have a great pair, but i still prefer without.
every tour i say i'll use em, i break em out and try em....and ultimately i take them out.

I think its just the consistent bounce/jumping that really gets you.. no way to really prepare of that either

i am sure ed has a whole host of other issues to deal with in relaytion to his show stamina. all the boys really. it does take a LOT out of you. as for fans, i have to agree....outside of the wear and tear from touring-travel/late nights/drinking/singing....for many it is all that jumping/bouncing. i am more of a swayer/dancer, thus i don't get those cramp issues...
btw - get a trampoline!

Leave the 10" stilletto's home that evening, and try a pre show shot of man jiz to coat the throat.
That should help.0 -

I am certainly not in shape. And nothing points that out more than seeing a couple of shows...especially back to back. While Seattle #2 had me so aching for a hospital bed
it didn't even compare to the euphoric exhaustion post SLC. I honestly felt a little dizzy by the time I'd gotten home and my ears still ringing probably didn't help. All I'd had all day was one pitcher of beer mid-day and about a liter of water during the show. I was pretty busy all day long leading up to the show and figured I'd be able to grab a bite at the bar, but maybe my nerves just got the best of me or the beer kept me from feeling so hungry and remembering I hadn't eaten all day. Either way, I paid for it after the fact. And I have got to get me some better concert shoes. Pumas are absolutely useless on a concrete floor. 0 -

I don't think I've ever come out of a show without my voice being completely shot. Since I began wearing a wig for the shows, I've pretty much become dehydrated in each of the 14 shows from that time. One of them stood out in particular- dehydrated to the point of dizziness, in roadtesting my Philly costume in what must be over 50 celsius at the Manchester GA show.
Felt a lot better though with more space at the Seattle and Vancouver shows, though I'll always sacrifice space in a seated show for the vibrancy of a GA crowd.115 bucks for half a haircut by a novice? I want my money back!0 -
