A message from Radiohead's website:
hi
in the past couple of weeks i've been getting a band together for fun to play the eraser stuff live and the new songs etc.. to see if it could work!
here's a photo.. its me, joey waronker, mauro refosco, flea and nigel godrich.

at the beginning of october the 4th and 5th we are going to do a couple of shows at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
we don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ..well ...we haven't got that much material yet!
but come and check it out if you are in the area. we've also got locals Lucky Dragons playing.
all the best

Here's a link to the photo: http://www.radiohead.com/deadairspace/i ... filter.jpg

He then goes on to link to a website where you can buy tickets. Thom Yorke and Flea in the same band! Kinda cool, would be interesting to see if they go on to make some new music together.

Wow that's so strange. I'm interested to hear them but I wish Yorke would just focus on Radiohead.

Well, I think Radiohead have been recording for a good portion of this year, but they're probably just on a break, bands do that all the time (and especially after the recording process for In Rainbows, which was a pretty tough time for the band members, and they almost broke up as a result).

I wish I didn't live all the way on the other side of the country. I'd like to see one of those shows.

Nigel Pulsford and Robin Goodrdge are the members of Bush.

Nigel Goodrich is a recording enginer/producer

It might actually be pretty cool to see what a guy like Flea brings to the 'Eraser stuff.'
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Wait really? They almost broke up? I never heard anything about it. Care to expand? :D
  • They were having a lot of issues during the In Rainbows writing/recording period. Essentially couldn't get it to sound as they were hoping / differing views. Took some time off / went on the tour where they demoed some of the new stuff live which I think kind of exacerbated problems while helping them work out the songs at the same time.

Anyways - got myself a ticket. Going to be very interesting...

I read it the other way. I never took it to mean that Radiohead has seriously considered breaking up. Obviously that was an option and serious thought at one time, Ok Computer era comes to mind, but as I understand it, their labels and lawyers were suggesting they break up. Not the other way around

not just reissues. the boxes contain the original album, the original booklet, postcards, a 2nd disc of the EPs/singles that came off that album as well as a DVD of live performances and the 'official' clips. amnesiac is my fave cause the red box is touchy feely and im weird that way. but the bends box is simply delirium inducing.

you can get just a 2 disc set. but why would you when the boxes are so very nice.

IIRC, the original albums are not remastered, correct? Seems odd not to do that when going through all this effort, but the extra goodies are nice, as they certainly have a large collection of singles/eps/etc...that needed to be gathered in one place.

  • True, I heard that some of their mgmt was suggesting a break-up which probably instilled that idea in their heads...but they were suggesting it b/c of their recording issues that they were having...have heard a few reports that they had some regrets about the way that HTTT turned out production-wise (obviously a very faster style of recording, but still some regrets) and they didn't want to have anything they would regret on IR.
