Anyone a fan? Just settling in right now to watch Season 1 on DVD.

As a sociology major I am excited because I hear the show is well, very sociological in its look at inner city life.

i have only seen season 1 & 2 but i liked them both a lot.

Stick with it. It moves "slower" then fast pace normal tv shows, but the build up is so good and the pay off is wonderful.

Great show. Season 4 is my favorite.

I heard going in that season 2 was a bit of a drop off. While I can see why people that got hooked by season 1 might be a bit thrown, I didn't think it was half bad. But then, I watched it all on dvd so I could move pretty quick. But seasons 3-4 were its pinnacle, and some of the best tv ever created.

One of the best shows ever. Pretty dark and depressing, but thats the reality.
  • We're almost done with Season 3 right now. It's really an amazing show.

For what it's worth, I also liked Season 2.

I found my pictures of Bubbles when I met him and his daughter in 2004. I hung one up at work, the only pic of him that didn't have his hand down his pants. I hate that when guys do that. What does it mean? It took me a couple of years to find those pics of him when I sat with him on a train and I did not know he was an actor til about an hour after I was sitting with him. At the time, I never heard of The Wire. It's funny, because another woman on the train (from NYC) recognized his (model) daughter and not him! She was a "Gap Baby" and Tommy H. model. I saw him on Criminal Minds last year.

  • just finished season one. I really like it. I can see why it is touted as the greatest tv show ever, and I can see why. I like how realistic all the elements are portrayed, from the police to the criminals, and I found the whole inner city life depiction, interesting, and at the same time disturbing.
  • The Wire is amazing.

I once saw Prop Joe at a Mexican restaurant. He was with an entourage of shady characters so I just stayed a safe distance.

Don't let me turn you off man. Despite the conceited gobshite thing, I truly do have decent taste. Just see my Buckcherry quote in the other thread.

:) I wasn't referring to you. Someone I know here in Chinatown.

Edit: And now you've gone and made me feel bad about what I said about you in the 'Define Liberalism' thread.

I loooove The Wire, definitely one of the best ever made. Sad they didn't continue, but glad they didn't ruin it by trying to continue either. I must admit, I never finished watching Season 2, I thought it was crap :? Seasons 3 and 4 were definitely my favourite. I need to take a weekend out and watch it all again. I'm thinking I'll understand it a lot more the second time round. Sometimes it was a bit hard to get what they were saying, espeicially when Snoop was involved

Have any of you watched The Corner? It was a 6-part prequel-type to The Wire, by the same writers and some of the same actors, just much less dramatised.
