Good photo organizing software?

Anyone know of any good organizing software for photos?

I have them all in folders by date, but I'd like to be able to tag or add keywords to them so that I can easily find pictures with certain people in them or certain events.

    I use both Flickr and Photobucket. Flickr costs me about $10 a year or something, but it's a good one.

    I'd rather not do a web based one... I don't want to upload hundreds of pictures.

    Adobe Photoshop Elements 8...it's 100 bucks but you can organize photos and vids and touch up and enhance photos

    If you're using a PC, Picasa is pretty good and free. If you've got a Mac, I really like iPhoto.
