backspacer...PLAY IT LOUD

i posted this in another thread, but i think it's interesting so am reposting:
i will say for me, i have found the secret to really, truly enjoying backspacer, start to finish:
PLAY IT LOUD.

i mean....LOUD. my first couple listens were all through headphones. didn't think much of it at all, outside of just breathe, the first listen....then a few more tunes grew on me with subsequent listens...but i still found it uneven, a few songs, just dislike. now no, not much changed with my likes/dislikes...tho i definitely have LOVE for about 5-6 tunes, still like a couple inbetween, and still dislike 2 for sure....but the overall feeling is far better. over the weekend, finally, i was able to listen to the album a few times over, loud, in my living room, with the good system on 7 channel enhanced setting....glass of wine in hand, room dark except for lots of candles....subwoofer right behind me and....yeeeeaaaaaaa. the whole album just was great, together, even the songs i am 'meh' about.....it just *worked*...and the songs i love, fantastic! and hell yes, jeff and matt kick all kinds of ass on this album.
anyone else have a similar experience?
it amazes me that by simply cranking the volume, and sure, playing it on our sound system, and letting it reverberate in the room rather than played through headphones...has made such a difference for my appreciation of the album as a whole, and sure, just reinforced the utter LOVE for some tunes i already have....and 'improved' even songs i am not crazy about. normally my first exposure to a new album IS in my LR in a similar scenario as above....sometimes i'ts been in my car, straight from the record store.
THIS album tho, b/c i got it thru 10c in the post, broke it out during the day, and it was a beautiful day...so played the CD first listen in my garden, thru a discman/heaqdphones. it was a great afternoon, but i do wonder if i would've gotten into it better/faster, if i followed my usual scenario.
eh, maybe i just needed to listen to it non-stop for a week and then the scenario above just finally got it to soak in...

You said it. This album was made to play loud and it all feels and sounds so much better that way.
Hamburg 2000, Berlin 2006, Copenhagen 2007, Berlin 2009, Berlin 2010, Berlin 1+2 2012, Copenhagen 2012, Amsterdam 1+2 2014, Vienna 2014, Berlin 2014, Prague 2018, Krakow 2018
the epiphany occurred before then, though it was also repeated sunday night too....;)
more like......13.
i just cannot get over how much it 'improved' my enjoyment of the album in it's entirety.

that would require me getting back into vinyl, and sure, buying a new turntable.
