Trip to West Coast tips?

Hey Guys,
I'm taking a road trip from Massachusettes to Los Angeles, and am stopping in Washington! Do any west coaster know of any spots I shouldn't pass up in the music mecca?

    Try to hit up Toad's Place in New Haven, CT if there is a show there. That place is historic.

    When you get to L.A. Check out Amoeba Records in Hollywood. It is an insane music store. It's freaking huge!
