Ok I know they were all B-sides thrown into one bucket but it was still a Studio album and some of the most loved songs.

so wtf where's the love for Lost dogs being a "Studio Release"

I think it's not an official studio release because none of the songs on Lost Dogs were originally composed after Riot Act came out in 2002. Aside from all the B-Sides, there were rarities from the old days, and songs that didn't make the final cut.

I think Lost Dogs doesn't count because it is a retrospective album of songs all written and recorded for different albums at different times.

Without getting into all the reasons that an album featuring Pearl Jam isn't the same as an album from Pearl Jam...if you really want to be "different" and include this, then shouldn't you go back to the future and say Temple of the Dog? Duh.

Pearl Jam is Mike, Stone Jeff, Matt(at the time of Mirrorball it was Jack), and Eddie. Eddie only sings backing on 2 songs on Mirrorball while Neil has all the lead vocals. Therefore, it is not Pearl Jam as Eddie is not the lead singer. Same as Temple of the Dog. How would you feel if you paid to see a Pearl Jam concert with a different lead singer? I'll bet you'd feel pissed.

That's different though. If you cannot see the difference between Mirror Ball and Lost Dogs, then i cannot help you. Neither are a Pearl Jam studio albums, but one of them is by Pearl Jam, hence it being Pearl Jam's Lost Dog's, which is a retrospective album. The other is an album by Neil Young that featured Pearl Jam. It was never Pearl Jam's album nor their release. It was released under Neil Young Record deal, not Pearl Jam's because it was a Neil Young record.
  • Lost Dogs is a compilation and not a studio album. It's like Rearviewmirror in my book.

pigs arse LD is nothing like rvm

DOGS was an album of songs that had not been released on an album. and no the b-sides on the singles don't count, because your average Jo is not likely to buy just a PJ single but they may buy a PJ album.

and where the hell are the b-sides from the last 2 albums????

Unthought Known and peed of sound - ............................. lost dogs rules though
  • Should this even be a discussion? Backspacer is their 9th album what's the problem?

It depends. Do you consider Physical Graffiti as a studio album? If you do, then Lost Dogs is suitable.
