Fade Outs?

First off, love the new album. Some of the best lyrics Ed's ever written. The only bummer about Backspacer for me is the fade outs on "The Fixer" and "Johnny Guitar". I've never been a big fan of the fade out. From the sounds of things, the band was still rocking pretty hard when these songs start to fade out and I would've loved to hear them finish it off proper. I look forward to hearing how they finish up Johnny Guitar live. It was nice to hear how The Fixer would finish at the Toronto show in August.

Anyhoo, just wondering how everyone else feels about this production technique.

I hate fadeouts and PJ uses them way too often. Habit, Life Wasted, Army Reserve... they have a bad habit of opting to fade out songs that are really rocking out on album :(

I always wondered why anyone would EVER fade out a song on an album. It sucks. Does it fade out live? F'no.

  • Listened to Yield today for the first time in Ages. And I was disturbed by the fade outs on that album, and started thinking that maybe it's a BoB thing?

I hate fadeout, ofcourse there can be exceptions. But on yield and backspacer, yuck.
