    I did not sleep last night. All I can think about is the fact my gandfather would not want to go out this way. My pride was aquired from him and I get it why he wanted his feeding tube out. No one should go out tied to a bed, blind and wearing a diaper. I had assumed I would be able to compartmentalize as I always do but this time it is different. I don't feel sad he is passing as this is his choice but so sad he doesn't feel like he is going out with his dignity.

    sorry about everything ani and can understand why he and yourself would feel this way its just like when people have cancer and no hope and dont get euthenised but die suffering hell on earth :(

    I know it's hard but try to look at it from the perspective of his decision to have the feeding tube removed was his way of reclaiming a little bit of that dignity and bringing it a little bit more back to his terms. I'm sorry you and your family are having to go through this right now, sending love and hugs to you all. :hug:

    P.S. You could always kidnap him and bring him up to Nova Scotia for one hell of a send off.

    My husband and I have been through similar situations with our own grandparents. My thoughts are with you and your family.
