supersonic sounds like...

My husband and I were trying to figure out why the begining of supersonic kind of sounded familiar, and I think I figured it out. It kind of sounds like Mankind, that song Stone sings from No Code. Anyone else hear the similarity? Or am I nuts?

    Yep. Stone wrote both songs and that little riff is similar.

    It bothered me a lot at first, but i still like the song.

    I think Im the only person who doesn't think its sounds like mankind. Im not hearing it at all, the riff and the song itself sound nothing alike to me.

    Yeah, I noticed that right away. I'm not sure if it's in the same key, but it's the same chord progression. It's only a tiny fraction of the song, and it's a much better song than Mankind, so it doesn't bother me at all.

    sure is - same chord progression, different timing. the only time it's noticeable is at the start, then the melody obscures the similarity. i like both songs but neither are within my favourites on their respective albums. love the break leading into mike's solo in supersonic - gonna be great live.

    i hear it.. mankind seems a bit slower, but yes.

    haha, I really dont hear it. Maybe its the tempo or guitar tone throwing me off. I guess I am lucky. :D

    Actually, looking at some of those videos from Seattle, I think that's Stone's solo.

    This is such an old topic. When we first heard Supersonic in August, there were threads all over the place about it sounding like Mankind. It does sound like the opening of Mankind in the beginning, with a slide to it.
