Hi. My name is Johnny Guitar and I am addicted to Backspacer. I can't enough of that stuff, as soon as I got some I feel like i'm floating amongst the waves, but still moving at the speed of sound, supersonic almost...it's like some force of nature, I have all these unthought knowns, er, i mean unknown thoughts that make all my problems disappear, like a fixer or something...maybe I am gonna see my friends, relax, hang out and just breathe. yeah, maybe that will help...I need to do something, I am about to lose my job following the guys who make backspacer all over the country...thank you. :) The end.

"next?"

    Well done!
  • Ever since I got this album, it's consumed me. I'm worried I might lose my job, my home, my marriage, my friends. Someone tell me how to start functioning as a useful contributor to society again. I need it, I must have it... arrgghh, sweet Backspacer eases the pain.

The first step is admitting I am powerless over "Backspacer." Oh, I am powerless indeed.

I plan my entire day around listening to it. Having to settle for sound from speakers when it isn't possible to have it pumpin' through my headphones. It's like drinking mouthwash once the last bottle of gin is dry. I gotta do what I gotta do to get what little fix I can.

I haven't had dinner since the album came out. I get home from work, feed the cat, and get to my room. Headphones on, forum up, and once again I feel like invincible.

Anything from "ordinary life" that diverts my attention, or interrupts my listening sessions, I experience an inappropriate level of anger. The other day was my dad's birthday, and every minute I spent on the phone with him (with "Backspacer" on, but low) was one less minute I could devote entirely to the music.

    It is a sickness.

    *ahem*

I was told that admission is the first step to recovery... well I admitted it with a big grin on my face and no sense of remorse or shame... surely that's not recovery?

Hello, my name is Sian and I too cannot get the sweet sounds of Backspacer our of my ears. I'm worried that there will be no other music for me again, ever. I'm worried I will start loving it more than my boyfriend, cats and family life. It has consumed me... I believe I need help... before it's too late and I start calling Dave 'Johnny G' :?
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

  • People, please calm down. If you are this excited about Backspacer then you should have been paralyzed the first time you heard Yield and Ten would have simply killed you. http://www.unfinisheddad.typepad.com/un ... pacer.html

is that your blog ? if so i disagree with you 100%

first you say that Vitalogy was the first record that did not rely on Ed's raw emotions to get by and that makes it the best PJ album of all time. i wont argue if it is or is not the best, dont matter.

but, the fact is, that it did indeed get by due to EV's emotions, they were not even writing in the same room at that point. EV has even said himself, that it was just him going into the studio by himself with his guitar for much of the recording sessions. so....... whatever :)
    Peace, Love.

hahaha I've had that happen to me like 4 times this week. It's a good thing we all get along here though otherwise they might have a problem with me telling them to shut up and wait until the song is over...

    Nice!!!

I am obsessed with Johnny Guitar

I have pretty much given up on all human communication and just listen to Backspacer now. People suck anyway. I think I have a bruise on my shoulder from people tapping it to get my attention because it is better loud than too late.

    pst...I need some
  • Backspacer is on repeat at work, in my car, on my ipod....my co-workers and family are sick of it. I can't get enough of it...it's like a drug.

    Exactly.
