I don't have a gaming system, but hope to get one eventually. I kind of want to maybe buy Backspacer RockBand since it might not be available forever, but I don't know which system to buy it for. I used to play Playstation a lot, and liked it, but maybe I was just used to it. So which is the better system? Thanks in advance.
words seem so out of place.

I've had both and like the PS3 better..

    Why?

Really its a better value. It already comes with built in wireless and rechargable controllers (Will cost you around $150 extra with Xbox)

Also with the PS3 you get a Blu-ray player.. Online play is also free.

The PS3 also is much more reliable. It will last you longer, unlike the constantly failing Xbox.

I have nothing against Xbox or Microsoft. The 360 has good graphics and lots of games, its just my experience with a PS3 was much better.

Either will be a good choice.
I'm just partial to the PS3. I think it offers more, is a solid system, and has a ton of great games...oh and a Blu Ray player!

As long as you don't get a Wii, you'll be a happy gamer!

I'm you're gonna game alot and are serious and have a netflix account get an Xbox.

If you don't game online alot and will use it for a Blu-Ray player more than a gaming system I'd go with PS3.

i bought a ps3 yesterday. i havent hooked it up yet, but based on the research i did, SoS has it right. if you're a hardcore video game player and think you'll spend a lot of time online, xbox is the way to go. but if you're more of a casual gamer (like me) that's as likely to spend as much time watching movies as playing games, and not playing those games online much, ps3 is far superior.

I always preferred p.c games. Nothing I've ever seen on the X-box or PS2 beats Battlefield or Il-Sturmovik online on a p.c.

PS3 pretty much has just as many games as the Xbox, and most are the same game.. you can be a big gamer on PS3 too. I'm not sure how that is an argument.

The thing is, most third-party multi-platform games are designed and built for the 360 and then ported to the PS3. This results in some games suffering lower framerates as well as occasionally taking a hit on graphics with the PS3. Many third-party companies have also broken exclusives with the PS3 because games sell better on the 360 when available on both, with the exception of maybe a Street Fighter-style game because the D-pad on the PS3 controller is better for fighting. Speaking of controllers, have you tried playing a FPS on the PS3 lately? It sucks. Don't get me wrong, I love playing me some Killzone 2 on the PS3 but it's just not as intuitive as any FPS on the 360.

But like you said, most games are on both and if you don't have both systems to compare side-by-side you won't care about the differences. So it can also come down to exclusives if your primary focus is gaming. If you like racing then PS3 will eventually have Gran Turismo while the 360 has Forza and Project Gotham. If you like FPS then PS3 has Resistance and Killzone while the 360 has Halo and Left 4 Dead. I'm not into RPGs that much but historically Sony will be a better system for that though the next Final Fantasy will be on both.

First of all, that made very little sense.
Second of all, the PSN while not as great as XBL is pretty damn close (and free). PS3 has just as many good exclusives as the 360 (depending on what you like) if not more.

    It's really an old argument.

Netflix is already talking PS3.. their exclusive XBox contract is almost up.. PS3 is catching up with and may pass XBox before this video game generation war is over.

Well, most 3rd party developers now have both kits and develop for both. Sure, it still happens...just not as much.
What 3rd party developers are dropping Sony? You say "many" of them are, but who has completely dropped Sony for MS? If you refer to Activision, that was talk...and if they did drop them, the CEO and CFO would be out of jobs.

Granted, the PSN movie store isn't as deep as Netflix but they offer quite a bit of good stuff! The system was slow when they released it, but I can now download a full movie in next to no time at all.
Also...the Netflix CEO recently stated he wanted to be on all 3 systems...

Just don't get a Wii! I'd rather have a DS over a f'n Wii!

Hey, Mario Galaxy is awesome!. Metroid was pretty sweet too.. other than a short list of AWESOME games, the Wii comes short, I agree.

I didn't mean they were dropping Sony, just the exclusive games that Sony once had all to themselves or for a certain length of time. Franchises like GTA, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear (the next one), etc. no longer require a Sony system to play on day one.
  • Definitely the PS3 for me. Much more value and im not a crazy gamer. Im getting the new $300 one soon and i cant wait.

i was always loyal to playstations in the past, but i ended up getting a 360 last december. the deciding factor was mainly all of my friends already have 360's, so i decided to go with that so i can play them online.

it's kind of a stale argument as to which is better. they are both pretty beast... but it does seem xbox has the edge in the online community. more online gamers flock to xbox over playstation.

  • xbox 360 for me - more & better quality of games, better online features, download films, twitter, facebook, it's cheaper. Didn't like the 1st xbox at all but they really pulled their fingers out fo rthis console. Problem is tho you will probably have to get it repaired at some point.

my friend always picks liverpool! we have had some classic chelsea/liverpool match ups.

i've been playing alot of NHL10 online, and several times people pick the all star teams. seriously, who does that!?

What does that mean? I've never heard that phrase before... some sort of colloquialism?

Drogba and Anelka are a tough pair to stop. Although, it's a task Jamie Carragher and Danny Agger handle very well. haha

My buddy has an XBOX360, sometimes my friends and I will go over and FIFA it up. I deliver beatdowns!...they get so pissed! He doesn't have XBLive, so they don't know how all the good players play. I keep encouraging them to get an internet connection. I get a kick out of it! :)

    Yeah, I hate those people!
It seems for most people, whatever is the easiest to achieve a victory...

I used to play MLB The Show '09 online quite a bit and I was constantly amazed how often I'd play the Yankees...
