i saw that too... i assume it's supposed to mean "precision bass", or the fender model he plays.. i think they put that to indicate he doesn't use his stand-up bass on any songs on this album, and that he just uses the traditional bass guitar. i could be way, way wrong about that though....
  • it's a type of bass. "Precision Bass"

    Most common model is Fender
And many other companies make their own "P Bass" all modeled after the Fender
    9/29/96, 8/29/98, 9/8,11/98, 7/28/99, 8/23,24,25/00, 10/13/00, 4/15/03, 4/30/03, 7/8,9,12,14/03, 10/1/04, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 5/4,5,13,27,28/06, 6/1,3/06, 6/19,20,22,24,25,27/08, 7/1/08, 8/4,5,7,16/08, 8/21/09, 10/27,28,30,31/09, 5/15,17,18,20,21/10, 9/2/12, 10/18,19,21,22,25/13
  • Could it be passive bass?

    indeed, indeed.
that and the jazz bass by fender....both beautiful, great sound!
i love fender basses, just have a soft spot in my heart for em. my husband's very first bass was a fender jazz, 1965 i believe. sadly, he sold it. i am nostalgic, he is not. ;) however, he has since purchased both a p bass and a jazz bass once more amongst his collection. i *heart* them. 8-)

for the record, fender basses have the sexiest headstocks imo. ;)
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

  • Thanks for enlightening me. I thought someone forgot to hit the "Backspacer" and let a typo get onto the packaging.

  • I read somewhere that Jeff used his Olympic White P-bass exclusively on the record(it's either a '65 or a '66). He's had it since before his Mother Love Bone days. He pulled it out on Riot Act as well, but not for the whole record. Usually he uses multiple basses to record an album, as do most bass players(including myself), whether it's one of his Modulus Jazz basses, his '66 Fender Jazz, his electric upright, or any one of his dozens of basses. I caught that in the liner notes immediately, and I thought that was really a cool little nod to where he began, and where most bass players started out, on a Fender P-bass. :)
