Yeah, I get my "Deep" fix from Atlanta '94
for the least they could possibly do
Look at the number of bands I have seen that haven't played songs beyond the album launch tour.
They tour for decades with essentially the same 90 minute song set of classics that made the band, a couple of good album tunes and half a handful of slots for the new stuff which is usually one or two decent songs and a couple of shithouse fillers that prove the band's best days are behind them. Every now and then a new song proves a big winner and makes it into the 'classics' but you can see the band at either end of their career and essentially see the same show.
I enjoy the fact this band can 'retire' a song but drop it in at will, play varied set lists and seemingly pull rarities and oddities out of the hat at seeminly without much preshow practice of that song, save for a sound check. I have no idea what songs I am going to see before a show and am always surprised by something. I love the fact that anything new they drop into the set is as stong as the first songs I ever liked by the band, just different. I love the fact songs I didn't really care for on the albums, suddenly come to life in a live context and then become your favourites. What a band hey!
