just HOW therapeutic the Into the Wild soundtrack is.

I just want to get in the car and drive to nowhere so I can listen to the album and think and well... cry like a little baby, since that's what it does to me!

There are so many great quotes from this album too.
A few of my favorites are:

"All my destinations will accept the one that's me
So I can breathe..."

"A mind full of questions, and a teacher in my soul"

"Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere"

"I knew all the rules, but the rules did not know me"

"I'll take this soul that's inside me now, Like a brand new friend I'll forever know"

"I'll keep this wisdom in my flesh"

Well as I go through the songs... I basically see the WHOLE album is quotable :) so I'll just leave it at these few....

Which Into the Wild quote has made the most difference to you?
"I'm not present, I'm a drug that makes you dream"

I know exactly what you're talking about, however, I'm a bit afraid to play the soundtrack now, since last time it made me go really far - and I can't really afford that right now!... Ah... to leave it all behind...

Yeah, this album is fantastic. I used to have quite a commute via public transportation in Boston and I would always throw on ITW to make the trip that much more enjoyable.

ok i cannot begin to tell you the impact this line has had on me:

"I've been wounded I've been healed, now for landing I've been cleared."

damn. no ceiling, in my opinion, is ed's best work to date
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...

That's the quote that popped in my head. Great choice of words. That song flows so fluidily.

  • all of them did, especially long nights, no ceiling, and guaranteed. i dont really think of lyrics when i listen to music until i've heard the song enough times to get the lyrics down. i listened to that soundtrack on a loop this summer and took a walk around town to take in the nature in my surroundings. it was pretty hard since i live in between a highway and the biggest road in town that connects like 5 different towns. i had to walk in the back streets towards the more expensive houses that use trees as a way to block the outside world from looking in. i used their decorative landscaping as a kind of pseudo-forest :p it was wonderful to just connect with trees like that, even if it wasn't a real forest. i even got to see a hawk swirl around above me, it was wonderful :) it got more therapeutic when i had to walk into the main street cuz i ran out of back street and got sexually harassed. i usually do whenever i have to use that street, but one time a guy actually followed me in his car and started harassing me, so i just cranked it up and kept walking :D

Too many quotes to post, but you are right, the whole soundtrack is ripe with them....part of what makes it a great soundtrack.
  • This album was my families Rocky Mountain soundtrack this summer. We drove from Ohio to Durango CO (San Juan National Forrest) and I have to tell you it made the trip all the more special.

    Get headphones,
    play ITW,
    find sanctuary.
  • This was my trek across Europe album. I can't even imagine how many plays it got as I was on trains looking out at the Italian/German/Spanish/Netherlands/Belgian/Moroccan/Czech/French countrysides. This album came out at a fucking perfect time.

There's nothing better than listening to this album while you're unbound, running across Europe. OK, this post is over as I'm getting depressed knowing that I'm sitting in New Jersey.

Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere...
"It's as comfortable as can be. But when you're on stage playing with Neil, well -- it's one thing to be at the zoo and watch an animal pace around its cage. It's another to be in the cage with him." -Eddie Vedder

Yes, the whole album is quotable, especially Guaranteed.

I've had this line running through my head all day:

"everyone I come across in cages they bought, they think of me and my wandering but I'm never what they thought."

I'm at work right now on a Sunday, by choice, so obviously I'm the one in the cage!
  • ITW...

That soundtrack is the one that brought me back...to Ed's lyrics, to PJ's music, to myself actually...it can be very moving, and thankfully it all happened at a time when I had the next summer to actually see not only PEARL JAM for the first time, but ED Solo! While I am so very sorry I missed a tremendous number of years without the whole of PJ's library, and only having "time" to listen commercially (lame, I know) at least I can now make up for lost time...and listen, I do...
"Dream the dream others then...you will be no one's RIVAL!"
"Doo do do do doo do doo, Doo do do do doo do doo..."
