TO Boot CD Sound Quality: Poopoo?

Salutations to all!
So I've been slowly making my way through my TO boot CD that came in the mail the other day a handful of tracks at a time... and I can't help think that the mixing/sound is total crap! I mean, the balance of the instruments seems way off at points, and fully half the boot, Ed sounds drowned out, as if the whole band is exploding in sound and he's standing six feet from his mic yelling at it.
I did a quick forum search and everything else I saw seemed to praise the awesome quality of the TO boots. Does anyone else in the universe have a TO boot that just sounds like some drunk guy fell on the mixing board and no one ever moved him?
I can't imagine this is an "isolated" thing like a bad press of the disc... but I find it nearly unlistenable!

man are you talking about the new 09 toronto boot??
Anyway if you are talking about the 09 boots i gotta say you must have something wrong...either cd or something...i have all 5 and have listened to all twice...they are fantastic...the mix is sensational on all of them...i wrote a big post on here about them...really ive listened to them through studio monitors plus ipod....both equally fantastic sound and mix...
I was so stoked to get this b/c everyone kept talking about how awesome the sound/mixing were on these boots, including Toronto.
I get it, and holy crap, I can barely hear Ed half the time b/c he's completely drowned out. I'm not making this crap up. It's not all bad. But a good chunk of it I find myself thinking "after I get through this, I probably won't listen to this one again."
I don't remember it sounding this bad when I was there... of course, I'm usually rocking out, so who knows.
How likely is it that I got a bad press?
It's not just my car stereo, either, b/c I'm listening to MP3 I ripped on my PC and it has the same issues. I don't have this problem w/ other boots.
Crud.
Yah, everything I've heard was how awesome these are... piss.

Does that mean it's good or bad :?:
what does that mean? those boots especially the chicago ones are fantastically mixed...what i would say tho that the mix stands very true to a live show...you can hear ed "using" the mic, by which i mean too-ing and fro-ing from it, as most singers do live...the drums and bass are great, lots of bottom end but still got great attack and punch...the gat's are panned perfectly allowing you to distinguish both parts...I was super impressed with the quality of sound , recording and mixing...I own all the official boots and to me these are the best in a production sense...they are true to the performance...in that they have the "warts and all" feel...no bum notes masked..none of ed's mic or out of breath mistakes masked...these are LIVE CONCERT bootlegs
I think anyone who has studio experience would say the same thing...Ive listened through both studio monitors and simply an i-pod and both formats stand up for me....sensational bootlegs...
tits r good
everyone knows that
Ill second that.
Thank you for explaining that for me. I couldn't have said it better.

Good point.
I'll give the boot another listen and see if I can find a particularly crudful section. If I'm just a whiny baby, they my compatriot will say "sounds good to me" and I'll shut up.
Also, the main drum sounds a little like a cowbell during the stretch that includes Off He Goes and Even Flow.
Ive never complained about boots, but it does seem like there are real bad stretches on this one.
I think you just don't dig elderly Eddies out-of breath singing/screaming/squealing and pushing away from the Mic when he sings at his thinnest
I wouldn't say that. I've met plenty of women that admire a nice set o' cans. My wife included.

Yah, it didn't make much sense to me that it was a disc press issue. It really seemed to be just the sound/mixing/something for a big stretch.
I haven't listened to the boot again since the first time... but I seem to recall having more of an issue with Disc 1 than 2. Is this also your experience?
