  • Agreed! Seattle got No Way so at the very least Philly should get ATY on the 31st (and No Way of course!)

  • DEEP has been officially retired - At the Penn State show you can hear someone yell it out while Ed is taking request and he says "Used to know that one... put it away"

I really hope deep isn't retired.
I can't wait to see all those yesterdays, how cool would it be to see ament bust out the sousaphone (or tuba) to play that?

They played Deep later on that same tour. There's really no so such thing as a song being officially retired. If you've followed this band for any amount of time, you should know that.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do
  • A lot of songs got cut out of rotation when matt cameron first joined the band. Over the years almost every song pre-98 has made a comeback.

Now the only problem is post 98 tracks being dropped after the tour!

    Pilate
    No Way .... :)
    push me, pull me
    rival
    cropduster
    ghost
    help help
    get right
    parachutes (assuming)

some of them make a few appearances on the following tour and then get forgotten. I read somewhere that mike was asked if they could play "deep" and he said they can't get it sounding good in the rehersals. or something similar

deep is one of worst PJ songs ever.....

ATY should make an appearance now and again. Great song.

That's actually his bass on the record ...

Push Me Pull Me would be a resurrection on par with that of No Way.
I think they played Cropduster and Parachutes once each in 2008?

Well I hear the bass, but with the right headphones I can definitely hear a horn as well, I'm almost sure of it.

Two of my favourites. Would love to hear them live, provided they can do these 2 gems justice.

I agree, it sounds like a horn. There used to be a FAQ section on this website (maybe its still here somewhere) where one of the questions was "Who plays the horn on ATY?". The answer was "That's Jeff's bass!". No horn, unless they were/are jerking our collective chains.

    i agree with this.
also, i personally far rather see other side makes it's debut, finally....live in philly 10.30 or 10.31.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

I seem to remember that. Yeah, you could get that sound out of a fretless upright bass. Very cool.

This just confirms what ive always thought. Let's look at who wrote these songs.

Jeff: Pilate, Ghost, Help Help, Push Me Pull Me, WMA(we can assume this one was an 2008 one off?), and Deep, Rats, Big Wave and Army Reserve are all fairly rare.

Stone: No Way, Rival, Parachutes, All Those Yesterdays, (Thin Air, All Or None, Fatal and Of The Girl are pretty rare too)

Matt: Cropduster, Get Right, (Evacuation too is rare, and Moonlight has never been played)

Funny how almost no songs by Ed ever get left behind!! There are SOME that Ed wrote that hardly ever get played (Around The Bend, Black Red Yellow, Education and Bugs, lol). But even "Im Open" has been played more than All Those Yesterdays.

its a shame imo, Stone, Jeff & Matts songs are great, and great live. Theyre also usually notable tempo changes in live shows, which i like but maybe works against them when Ed is drawing up setlists.

I do sort of wonder what things would be like if the other guys took a more active hand in writing up the setlists.
