  • Chicago had 56 songs total with 7 repeats so 49 different songs.
  • Yes, they did a bangup job of leaving some of the warhorses off the Night 2 set ... I hope this trend continues. I mean, they have staple tunes and there's going to be repeats, and I don't mind that. But 46 different tunes across two nights is pretty sweet. It'll make for a nice pair of boots.
  • Just imagine what is going to happen in philly. They really should have live video feed of all 4 shows.

I finally got indifference! That's been a hard one to knock off my list. I've been to all the seattle major shows since seattle II '98 (i may have missed indifference by one night as I think they may have played it at seattle I). For all the shows in the the northwest the past 10 years I'd never gotten to hear it.

I couldn't rearrange my plans after then account vancouver, so It'll break me if they play Sonic Reducer, as thats one of the last songs on my list I really want ot hear live. It'll be the first Vancouver show I haven't attended since the opened for Neil Young in '93.
  • With all the awesome songs they have there should be NO repeats on night 2, or night 3 for that matter.
8 repeats is nothing to get giddy about.
How about extending some songs a little, and how about a set break?
That is one thing that has always bothered me about PJ shows.
Why not have a set break so everyone can re-charge?
Personally I would like to hear less songs with more jamming.
Then we wouldn't have to label their last 6-8 songs as "encore 1" and "encore2",
    which is lame.

Uh, they're promoting an album. You're going to hear songs from that album at each show. There's going to be repetition. 6 of the 8 song repeats are Backspacer songs. One of the other 2 repeats included a horn section, so they were using them both nights, and Do The Evolution was played twice just for me. So I'm giddy.

Contrary to popular opinion, PJ is not really a jam band. Sure, they have some classic tunes that get the jam treatment ... But they are not going to do a 10-minute version of Breakerfall. Obviously I wouldn't bitch if there was zero repeats, but like jeffbr said, they are supporting a new album. With the exception of actual jam bands like Phish, PJ mixes up setlists better than everyone else except Springsteen (who seems to take much the same approach ... A fair number of repeats, but lots of different songs over the course of a tour).

I wasn't trying to compare cities, but show people that this is happening a few times.

It really did come off as though you wanted a pissing contest between cities though. This thread had nothing to do with Chicago. You offered no comments or congratulations to the Seattle fans on what a great couple nights we had. All you had to offer was stats from Chicago which were all just a little better numbers-wise than Seattle's. It was a real "neener, neener" type of post.

Any way you explain it now, it still seems like you were trying to take away our thunder and tell us we're not special. Whether you meant it that way or not, it oozed that sentiment.
  • Yea, I guess repeating new songs is not such a bad thing. I agree.
  • Ah aNiMaL, we STILL have yet to meet. Holy CRAP what a great two nights! Thanks for posting the stats; just makes having been there that much more PERRRRRFECT!!!

Hope everyone who's going to Van tonight enjoys; heading to Portland (well, Ridgefield) tomorrow! :D

    I disagree.

The beauty of PJ shows is the nonstop changing of gears. I always hated those half-hour-long-breaks at concerts back in the day. So selfish of those lazy bastards to let us scream our fucking heads off while they do lines backstage. PJ works for 3 straight hours.

I do think they could extend/jam more songs, but that is more an issue of them speeding up ALL of their songs.
    90 shows and counting...some of my favs: Randall's Island night 2, Milwaukee '95 night 2, Hawaii '06, St Johns '05, PJ20!
  • Thanks for the stats aNiMaL. Not too shabby, the band IS at thier PEAK right now...

What an amazing experince. It was my 1st trip to Seattle. To see songs like In My Tree, No Way, All Night, and the new songs, was awesome. Met some great people at the preparty, and at the shows.
