Where The Wild Things Are

One of the greatest kids book ever has been made into a live movie directed by Spike Jones opening 10/11.
Today while running I hit repeat for Unthought Known like 5 times and realized what a great soundtrack song this would have made.
Feel the sky blanket you,... w/gems & rhinestones,...
See the path cut by the moon,... For you to walk on,...
For you to walk on,...
Nothing left,... Nothing left,...
Nothing there,... Nothing left,...
See the path cut by the moon,... For you to walk on,...
See the waves on distant shores,... Awaiting your arrival,...
Dream the dreams of other men,... You’ll be no ones rival,...
Dream the dreams of others then,... You will be no ones rival,...
You will be no ones rival,...
These words hit me as EV telling us to look at the moon, a lifeless place but is so important to lighting our way.
I can see Max sailing along at this point in the song.
Distant shores, is the land of the wild things. And by Max dreaming the dreams of these monsters he has made friends, thus have no rivial.
On another level this song is clearly about religion and if we jus let the differences between the big 3 go we can all share this world and even if there is an after place. The distant planet.
What a great fuckin' song.

First of all, thank you very much. Now I can't listen to this song without getting extremely excited for Where the Wild Things Are to come out. The image of the moonlight guiding maxes boat is burned into my memory from since I was a kid and that was my favorite story.
Now the freaky thing about you saying this song would be perfect for the movie, is that the mother in the movie is Catherine Keener, the same person who's late night conversation with Ed helped inspire the lyrics for the song. Chew on that for a bit.Minneapolis : 06/30/1998 - Chicago : 10/09/2000 - Vancouver : 05/30/2003 - Fargo : 06/15/2003 - Winnipeg : 09/08/2005 - Thunder Bay : 09/09/2005 - St. Paul : 06/26/2006 - Chicago : 08/23/2009 - Chicago : 08/24/20090 -

Holy shit I didn't make that connection, I had read the piece about EV and her talking one night but had no idea she was in the movie. That is a bit too much. Too be a fly on the wall during that conversation. Better yet, to have the chance to ask Ed if Where the Wild Things are was brought up during their talk.
It is also a safe bet that Ed has read this book to his kids. It must have been in his mind when he penned this masterpiece.
Have you viewed the trailer yet? I caught it in the spring and it gave my goose bumps. I am more exicted than my 6 & 4 year old sons to see this movie.
I don't recall the band but the trailer viewed had a killer song. I'll try and find it right now and make the link.
Thanks for reading and cheers.0 -

Let the Wild Rumpus Start!
I saw a featurette at the theater on this film -they interviewed Maurice Sendak about it - and he was enthusiastic - so that really makes it something to look forward to! He says Spike Jones has preserved the feeling of the book while expanding on the story to extend it to a full feature film.Post edited by Grandma on0 -

Thanks for reading and cheers. It's easy to grin, When your ship comes in, And you've got the stock market beat. But the man worthwhile, Is the man who can smile, When his shorts are too tight in the seat0 -
