Backspacer... born, not "written"?

Tell me what you think?
FIRST: I'm not a fan of using "deep" to describe lyrics. Too many equate topic (death, teen angst, fear) with depth.
SECOND: There is a quality to masterpieces of written language - especially lyrics, though. The ability to almost FEEL the meaning and essence of a song from the words - even if you don't pay too much attention. Then you extract layer upon layer of complexity, nuiance, and feeling from it by paying closer attention.
Great lyrics just dig deep into us and touch a part of our human being, almost effortlessly. Let's face it - TEN was born a masterpiece. That album has that universal quality. It was as if those words always existed and Ed just found them and showed them to the world.
Fast forward to Riot Act, Binaural. GREAT ALBUMS... but they feel... Well, "Written"
Overall analysis of Backspacer -- this one seems like it was "born." it has that quality of lyrics and universal gravity that I felt has been missing. I'm thrilled and can't wait to dig deeper.

There's an edge to real rock 'n' roll. It's all that matters.

I must disagree with thoughts on the album Vs.. For example, Elderly Woman... lyrics paint a beautiful picture. They seem organic and not at all forced. And I still consider "Indiffence" to be one of their most powerful songs.
The risk I took was calculated, but man, am I bad at math - The Mincing Mockingbird
for the least they could possibly do
cheers to that
I love it!
I love it!
I love it!
*thumbs up*
I don't think I immersed myself in a Pearl Jam album since Vitalogy, which I listened to non-stop for 3 days immediately when it came out. This is awesome! I love being obsessed with something that deserves it!
Love the wallpaper, too

Sleight of Hand and Nothing as it Seems beg to differ.
You can't find deeper meaning out there.
And Riot Act? Really? You could argue that Riot Act is Eddie's best work. Have you ever heard of a little song called Love Boat Captain?
"And the young can lose hope, because they can't see beyond today, the wisdom that the old can't give away."
