Precisely. I don't understand the people who make the comparisons and then say that they wish the band would make more of the "old" sounding stuff, or make an album like Yield again. Why would you want that again? Yes, it's a great album, but we've already got it. Every album expands their catalog in more ways than simply increasing the number of songs. With each new record we get an entirely different type of album, and that's what is so great. Backspacer is its own being, style, sound, etc. It doesn't sound exactly like anything else they have done, and I'm sure whatever comes next won't sound like Backspacer. I think we're all better off for that.

I do think he should quit smoking, but not because of anything it does to his voice. Just isn't healthy. But anyway, I can't say I hear any influence from the cigarettes on this album. His voice sounds amazing on this record, can't necessarily say the same with Avocado. He sounded very strained on that record. His vocals are on fire for this one though. But yeah, Eddie, stop the smoking... you've got a little girl to think about.

well, you seemed to suggest you were only referring to the assholes who compared it to other albums, which i have clearly stated i have not/would not. i am simply one of the assholes who doesn't love it start to finish.....have some issues.....and yea, talk about em, b/c that's what i enjoy doing here. discussing likes/dislikes in regards to pealr jam music. crazy, i know....;)
and i can't love something simply for being "new".....i want it all!
