I gotta say that I am so psyched that the boys are coming back to Mass!

I will be there with my daughter Shae, who was LUCKY enough to get up on stage in Boston and hand Eddie flowers, then have SMILE played for her!!!! Ed tossed me his harmonica towards the end and I handed it to her. She was 9 in '06.

We still talk about that night like it was yesterday. She was so inspired by that one moment that Shae has since taken up guitar and is pretty good for an 11 yr old.

I was just thinking that maybe...

Well, the Sox are out of town for a while that week and there are no dates set so far for the weekend before they play Mansfield.....

Just sticking my neck out there hoping for all of the things that I love to come together in one moment in time:
PJ, Red Sox, Fenway Park, My daughter.

Hey, a guy can hope, can't he???

We'll see ya at the show!

My step-brother and sister-in-law were at that show and they were moved by Eddie and your daughter's interaction. It was their first PJ show, and they are now hooked!! Anyway, I have seen the clip of the flowers/smile exchange on YouTube, and I think that was completely awesome!! Nice job all around!
For those who scoff at "Jamily" in my name... 9 years ago, when my first daughter was born there were jokes about whether my priority would be my family or PJ. I smiled and quipped "I am a JamilyMan." What was a family joke became a hated term among jammers. Didn't see that one coming!

Acts at Fenway need to have approval nearly one year in advance and to my knowledge there are VERY few concerts per year in Fenway since they started in 2005 with the Stones. My memory suggests (and it is fading every day) that only one act performs at Fenway each year (same as Wrigley Field?) The noise pollution known as Bon Jovi will be bleeding our Boston friends' ears this year.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.
  • Fucking Bon Jovi,what a joke!

anyway, i was there the night your daughter gave him the flowers(about 6 rows behind you guys)

first time i heard smile live and it was the nuts!!

i also took my daughter to that show(she was 13 at the time)though she wasn't as lucky as your little girl.
What an awesome memory for you guys to have.

    CHEERS!!

I meant to post this earlier, and it slipped my mind....but it is nice to see true fans get a lasting memory from a concert. Congrats to you and your family.

There's a better chance that they'd play at Wrigley Field before Fenway. Both are a long shot.
  • Coincidentally, I'm listening to the Boston II show right now. I was there - what an amazing moment for your daughter. "This one's for Shae!" :)

If they played Fenway, I would truly be in heaven.

FYI, it didn't start in 2005 with the Stones, it started in 2003 with Bruce Springsteen, then 2004 with Jimmy Buffet.

Dave Matthews Band and the Police played in 06 and 07.

The chances of PJ ever playing the stadium are very low unless they co-headline or open for a bigger act (U2 makes the most sense to me in the future). I am pretty sure the yearly act has to be approved by a committee made up of neighbors around Fenway.

The band unfortunatley does not have a mass appeal other than the hardcore fan base. I do believe they could sell out 2 nights on their own due to the hardcore fans that would travel, but I doubt the city would approve them playing by themselves.

Smile dad .. you and your daughter are now 10C rock star
status along with the kid in 2003 who sang the "1,2,3,4" intro to "porch" at great woods (7/2/03)

(BTW.. I love the fact that Eddie had this innocent 10 year old boy sing the intro right before belting out "What the F*CK is this world comin to"! ) LMAO

More problems for a PJ 2008 date... I know a guy who has the insider info on fenway..

Yes, there will be another act playing Fenway in 2008...

But its Springsteen (and not PJ)..

and yes.. this will be the second time for Springsteen in this venue...

Nothing against Springsteen, I happen to like his music..

but you heard it hear first!
    "This here's a REQUEST!"
EV intro to Chloe Dancer / Crown of Thorns

Thanks, I forgot about those....sadly, I tend to agree with each of your points.

are you out of your mind? of course they could do it on their own!are you trying to tell me Bon Jovi is bigger than PJ? maybe in NJ,not anywhere else!
U2 sucks!!! they are a shadow of their former selves.

also when people play Fenway it's only 1 or 2 nights anyway.
