Was just looking at Metacritic, and noted that Backspacer has a higher score than all of the other pJ albums they have charted, including the reissue of Ten.

Wow.

it's the most accessible album they've ever done in my opinion, which could be why it's being received so well by almost everone who hears it. I played it for a guy at work yesterday who is pretty much into 80's stuff, and electronica. He said he never got into Pearl Jam, but after about half way through the album he was just blown away. He went and bought it that afternoon :D

  • this is the first album that my son (14) wanted the whole thing on his ipod...

  • Pitchfork ripped it apart. 4.6. Ouch.
  • It'll come down...their last album was above 80 for a bit....the more reviews that come out, the more "out of left field" (see pitchfork) reviews will come out, that disproportianlly drag the rating down. I'm hoping that it stays above 80, but one terrible review (like the 4.6 it just got) will drag it down 4 points by itself and take 4 or 5 normal, solid reviews to make up for it.
I am right by your side...
