does ANYONE have any info on who's opening for them? It's 2 frickin' weeks away, and I can't find a damn thing online about an opener. I called ticketbastard and they said they didn't even know yet. that's just plain odd to me.
EDIT: I know for sure it's not the Meat Puppets. They are in Chicago the same night as the Winnipeg show.

depends on where it is and what type of show. Most "indian casino" shows they play by their lonesome.

I seen STP a few times. Best show I saw from them was the Rolling Rock tour in latrobe in '01. After that thgough their shows kinda went downhill. They play almost the same stuff everytime i see them. I would like to hear a few tracks which they rarely play once in awhile, not just the hits.

STP are TERRIBLE! One of the worst shows I ever sat through.....saw them with the Peppers Californication-era..........what a bunch of tools
Realy? I was at the Seattle show, and honest to God I thought STP killed the Peppers and i like both bands. Oh well, different strokes for....
To be honest, I could have played Frusciante's guitar parts better than he did and Kiedis is a POOR live singer....STP still sucked though, an overall forgettable concert......in fact the second worst show I have ever witnessed...the first being Everclear, of course :? :? :? :? :? :? :?
"No way to save someone who won't take the rope, and just lets go..."
so apparently Crash Karma is opening for them.
They are that "supergroup" comprised of Edwin (I Mother Earth), Jeff Burrows (Tea Party), Mike Turner (Our Lady Peace), and some other dude from a band called Zygote.
If you've heard them on the radio you would know that they play the most generic cookie-cutter rock since Nickelcrap.

Its pretty hard to sing all those lyrics that kiedis writes, especialy for 2 plus hours while running and dancing. give the guy a break. As for Weiland being off as he usually is, thats just the junkie in him. Still 2 amazing bands in the studio.
STP have canceled Thursday's show in Grande Prairie. Better to cancel it now then wait until all of the fans have showed up like they did last year in Tampa

Just found out Crash Karma is playing the Eastern Canadian dates, and some band called Crash Kings are playing the Western Canadian dates. Oddly similar names. But not the same band.
I sure hope they don't cancel the Peg date!

STP are getting hammered by the press for doing the same old shit setlist every night. They deserve it, they shouldn't even be touring right now. They should be in the studio finishing their record.

the setlist was fucking awesome, actually. experienced it last night. mostly core and purple, and I think 1 off No 4.
the press can suck it. most reviews are bs anyways. all it is is one person's opinion, kinda like mine.
and as far as I know, the record is done, is it not? just the post-production side of it now?

Has anyone been to the shows from the fall tour yet? Looking for some opinions of the shows.
I Haven't seen them since '94 and have been contemplating going to the show at Copps.
I saw them a little while ago at Bayfest in Mississippi, with Meat Puppets and Cage the Elephant "opening" for them. They were awesome - opened with Silvergun Superman, probably because it's easy for Weiland to sing. He sounded a little patchy on Wicked Garden (their second song) - but from there on out they were on fire. He drank nothing but orange gatorade all night, and looks to be in great shape. The whole band was really getting into it. Yeah, they do 90% of the same stuff every night, but that's only an issue if you're the 1% of the crowd who follows the band from city to city - if you haven't seen them since '94 and you're jonesing to hear "Interstate Love Song" and "Down," get the hell off this board and go buy yourself some tickets!
"Trippin on a Hole" may still be their best live song, but he was a little off on that too - a shame, because when I saw them at Voodoofest a few years ago they closed with an incredible version of that, that would've torn the roof off the place (if we were indoors lol).
And yeah, to echo another poster on here - I'd heard the album was finished and was in post-, so they're touring and keeping in sync until the new one drops early next year.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.
They rocked Kool Haus in Toronto last night. In a week that I saw Wolfmother an Band Of Skulls (both were amazing) I was worried STP would dissapoint the way they let me down last summer. I saw them in Montreal last summer in the middle of a 12 day Rock and Roll vacation (11 concerts in 12 days). Unfortunately STP was the only dissapointment of that trip. They just seemed lame and tired. One thing I've learned is to never say never. So glad I gave them another chance because they were great last night!
saw them in Hamilton last night and had a fun time, right on the floor, very close to the stage. The stage was on the blue line of the arena, so it seemed really intimate, like 1/4 of the ice was the floor. I enjoyed hearing alot of old songs that weren't hits from the first 2 albums, and all of their hits were great too. Scott is really a weird looking guy, and had those beady little eyes. I enjoyed watching the bass player, I think it's Dean, he's really pumped. Crowd was kind of lame (in the stands) to start but got into it after.
Started at 8:30 and main set ended at 9:45, but then just 2 encores, which I expected seeing other shows set-lists, but still, being a PJ fan, we are spolied.

Robert is the bass player, since Scott had calmed down live Robert has become the showman of the band to me. When I saw STP July 1st he was moving around more than Scott.

STP cancelled their December and January tour dates to complete their new album
http://grungereport.net/2009/11/18/ston ... new-album/
Also here's some footage of the band jamming from the Toronto show which supposedly had a much better crowd than last night's show.

The January 1st show in Oklahoma has been rescheduled for March, when the new album is expected to come out.
