"I shit and I stink, I'm real join the club!"

I heard this today for the first time in a few years and I love how raw, down and dirty Ed can be about stripping off your pretenses and just being human. I find it to be common thread through many of his songs particularly since I think he dealt with his 'fame' issues in a lot of his songs and in a lot of ways tried to figuratively head butt people and say, 'I'm a real person, I'm confused about being a rock star, leave me alone!' - just my interpretation of course...gotta love Satan's Bed

i like this song more and more with every passing year.

i also tend to use this line " i shit and i stink, I'm real join the club" when someone is being uppity with me.
    Peace, Love.

Me too. They rarely get the reference, but it is very easy to understand the meaning.

Love this song so very, very much! Being a female that doesn't buy into the whole standard of conformity / standard of beauty thing, I've always adored the lines:

Model, role model, roll some models in blood,
Get some flesh to stick, so they look like us

    ME TOO!!!!!! Love those lines!
I really feel what you're both saying, and what Ed says too. We're all of the Earth aren't we, funny how some seem to forget that.
... and hurrah for the use of the word uppity Oona left!!!
    Gotta say it now
    Better loud
    Than too late

In the interest of full disclosure, I cannot take credit for the use of that word, for it was none other than the wolf who introduced that term to the discussion. I merely quoted :D
  • i have always loved this song, love everything about it. funny though that eddie divorced his rather unattractive (by comparison) ex wife and married one of those model, role models referred to in this song. :)

And I don't blame him, I've seen the pics.

I wasn't going to bring this up, but I have wondered (and diligently hoped against) that fact causing "Satan's Bed" to be played less and less often...

    So far, so good? :D

    And, (some) unattractive women rock!!

Not that I know for certain but I surely wouldn't assume that Ed was the one divorcing Beth... I seem to recall (at the Benaroya benefit) Ed talking about being served papers right before the show, or in the dressing room or something like that... Maybe I am overly sensitive to this issue, I was served papers at my job... pretty disheartening / embarrassing.

I do agree with you about the model thing... Ed being married to a model takes a bit of juice out of that model/roll model line, heh.
