Not quite sure what the fuss is about Amongst The Waves, I find it a little like Marker In The Sand. It seems to be trying too hard to euphoric & uplifting but it actually fails on both counts.
Force of Nature & Supersonic just miss out on the top 6.
Gonna See My Friend is the worst song on the album IMHO

True, its amazing how things change. its been a couple months now and I would now put The End just under Just Breathe, I am still not feeling Johnny Guitar though.
After listening to Backspacer for two weeks I think I can finally determine my rankings. But like every other PJ album it will probably change. Though this album ranks somewhere in the middle for me, it is overall a great album.

Wow...how could you have The End last? That song is so fucking beautiful.
The fact that The End could be anyone's least favorite song on Backspacer just goes to show what a great record it is.

Speed of Sound and Force of Nature do absolutely nothing for me. I tried and tried but they just never resonated.

Though Johnny Guitar has grown on me a lot, I really disliked it initially. I'd like it even better if not for some of the vocal phrasing in the verses. I also feel like I'd like the song better if it were some other random band I could take or leave, it just doesn't feel like a PJ song to me.

İ skip the Fixer and Speed of Sound almost every listen. Love the rest but if İ had to pick six, those would be it. Although, really, the great thing about the PJ catalogue is how much your favorite songs can change with the wind...these lists are never easy. My top 3 on this list are a lock though.
