since there really doesn't seem to be an official one, figured I'd try to start one. this is my INITIAL REACTION to the album and I'm keeping it short.

the record itself sounds excellent, very crisp and clear... just goes to show that you can never go wrong having Brendan O'Brien producing and mixing. nothing on the first half of the album really jumped out at me, or on the whole album for that matter. there are a couple of songs on there that will maybe come across much better when played live, and will allow Stone and Mike to do some great live jamming. but a lot of the songs, like others have mentioned, just sound pretty basic. they didn't hit me. Eddie's lyrics are, as always, deep and well-thought out, but his voice really is showing some wear and tear this time around. he mananged to belt out some high notes, I'm just hoping he can do it live. he didn't even sound like himself in some parts of the record. I thought the piano and string arrangements added to certain songs were good, for a change... and I'm guessing Boom didn't play on this album? I'm sure some people are gonna say that I need to listen to it over and over for it to grow on me, but I really don't need to. the record is okay at best. I'm seeing them on Oct. 1 and hopefully we'll hear some great live versions of the songs. maybe one day the album will get better to me with age.... I'm not ruling out that it will, and I'm not doubting that it won't.
