If any song is a concert opener, I would think this would be it. Kinda like most openers with the one guitar start.

  • Totally agree.
"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win ."

"With our thoughts we make the world"
  • I think Gonna See My Friend would be a better opener.

ya i think it's really between gonna see my friend and unthought known in terms of possible new openers. amongst the waves is awesome but will need to be mid-late show

  • i think it would be awsome if they did a transition from gonna see my friend to got some for the opener
  • I'm dying to hear them open with "Release"

yeah, actually they can burn through the first 4 songs straight as an opener and that would be solid. totally upbeat and guitar heavy rocking. i wonder if it's their best first 4 start.

  • well since this is my 1st time seeing pearl jam live, my ideal opening song would be a classic song but i dig backspacer enough to have one of those songs open up too
  • Night 1 opening 3 songs (you can pencil this in)

    Release
    Why Go
    Gonna See My Friend

    Release
    Why Go
    Gonna See My Friend

That's a fantastic start. I love it when they open with release and then play five hard rockers. It's such a great start to a show.

I don't know, I thought the first for of Avocado were pretty f'in strong. Although Avocado is not my favorite album, I might have to go with those 4 as perhaps the strongest opening 4 in their catalogue. Either that or Yield. Well, I've always thought that No Code had the strongest "Side A."

I love Johnny Guitar. I really dig it, but I don't know if I can say it can be involved in a "best" opening 4 tracks to a PJ album. But that's just me.

I will tell you this, however, and I may get flamed for it: Gonna See My Friend-->Got Some is in the running for the best 1-2 punch to open a PJ record. Up there with Last Exit/STBC, or Go/Animal.
