Backspacer / Binaural / Unthought Known / Foldback / Matt

For some reason, I am hearing a lot of Binaural in Backsapcer. I know a lot of it is Matt's influence on the band. For instance, in Got Some ... the bridge (I think) in the song has that kind of sound as Insignificance and others on Binaural - guitars and drums.

Anyone kinda hearing this? It wasn't as evident in Riot Act nor Avocado, but I hear it in Backspacer.

Also ... does Unthought Known kinda sound like Foldback? http://www.gremmie.net/bsides/patchwork/ (click on Touring Band 2000).

Maybe it's just my ear that's been trained to love Binaural.

Peace, good night.

  • Like the thread title!

I will say that Binaural and Backspacer are my favorite albums for Matt's drumming. He's a dynamic force on the new one.
  • Yep I hear it too! Shades of Binaural everywhere. Nice.

I must say, if you were to listen to an album to hear what Cameron's drumming is all about, this is the album. He almost steals the show on this album in my opinion.

Yes I will say that MC's drumming is very nice on this record, with the minor exception of Speed of Sound, which I think several people on here have said just doesn't fit the song. But yes Matt rocked on this album!
