  • I think they're great live, saw them twice. Last time at a festival in June, the sound was real shit but they were still amazing. Love to watch Omar playing the guitar, he's just genius and their drummer is insane :D
And they're very nice guys aswell, got to meet them personally, once. A friend and I were invited backstage after the show, that was just a really great night.

I'm going to see them out of curiosity in 2 months. I hated them until this time last year, then i lived in a house with 3 guys who played Mars Volta all day (theyd even leave the house and leave it blaring on their stereo, the feckers :D ) and now im a fan i guess.
    Good to hear good reports!
  • well that was... interesting. my friend described it pretty well: "it was like the angriest Phish show i could ever go to"... and he doesn't like Phish

there seemed to be no cohesion to the songs at all, each one just kind of blended into the next and not in a good way but in a very nondescript way... i will continue to listen to them, but they will remain a studio band for me

    ...until ATDI gets back together

I've seen them three times and they have been very good every time. One was probably ranks in my top ten concert experiences.

I have not seen them on this tour with the new material though. They are different obviously then when they were in ATDI, i never saw them but i've watched clips on youtube and it just seems those concerts were insane.

I would expect a good show though since they have never disapointed me.

I've seen them twice, both as opening acts. First time they opened for A Perfect Circle and it was one of the most incredible live shows I've seen. That's actually how I discovered them. I'd heard of their name, but never listened to their stuff.

Second time they opened for RHCP. It was still good, but I wasnt' as up close and involved as I was the first time. It was also @ the Delta Center (now Energy Solutions Arena) in SLC which is where the Jazz play so it is a large venue not really built for concerts. I had also been drinking, so they didn't seem as good as the first time. But yeah, still they are worth seeing.

They've cut their set back by an hour. Still amazing, when I seen them. I'd say I even prefer their 2 hour show over the 3 hour.
