Eddies voice on Backspacer

Thoughts?
I noticed in certain parts his voice crackles, I guess he can't belt it out like he used to but nonetheless he is still awesome.
I guess years of recording and touring are catching up with him.

A little bluesy here and there, which I'm diggin'.
Word!
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
Anatole France
Just Breathe and The End.. favorites so far
While I agree that I think he sounds great on this album (at least he enunciates well on this album and you can understand most of they lryics, unlike Avocado
His voice is fine. Let it go.
for the least they could possibly do
dare i say.. fannytastic?
YES I DO DARE! take that world.
imagine ten era eddie singing "the end"... i reckon 10-era ed would have sounded bored singing that one. don't get me wrong, i love 10 era ed (or 10EE) as much as the next person and my all time favourite song is Black... but 10EE couldn't do these songs justice.
He does sound different as the years move on and some people might think he sounds worse, some might feel better. Ahhhhh, art.
Yes, not this again! - another forum member who notices a thread topic he simply can't stand, and for reasons unknown he cannot ignore it and still feels the need to post a comment in it in order to voice his disagreement to all! Yup, I hate it when that happens, too
Agreed.
Ed's delivery outside of Just Breath and maybe The End are more or less the exact same for every song. I am not a huge fan of "punk-Pearl Jam" which tends to be a theme in this album but I still think it's a good album.
That said, there are a couple of songs where it hits "bad". The lungs aren't there anymore.
I used to think the upper range was gone, but I don't think it is. I think the vocal output level is what's killing songs these days.
Just my 2c

Not his "deep voice" but the power in his voice... Oh.... and, DAVE A on the drumset!!!!

^ I thought that needed saying in capitals!!
here's one way for you to start 'lovin' it... try listening to it with headphones.
all the little nuances will rush at you at once and this record will really take a new form. it's production is truly beautiful. ed's vocals are so raw, the drums! man the drums! jeff's bass really shines. mike's subtle textures and melody patterns. stone's steady rhythm. also, brendan o'brien's playing and adding in little touches on keys and various other instruments (french horns and strings) really shows these songs in the light that they were meant to be in. for me, on this record there are so many chances that they are taking. as i've seen others post, it really sounds like they are all playing as a band on this record, not just individually tracked. they all shine together. it's definitely worth a few more listens.
couldn't be happier with this record
