  • it's just a different direction again ... i liked "the end" . It doesn't have moody undertones like the others ( the album i mean ), are PJ running out of soul ? i like their moody stuff . :?

    Moody = Soul?

I find this album more "soulful" than just about anything in their catalogue.
  • I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone suggest that "The End" may mean that the band is breaking up. When Binarual came out, people were all like "Oh my god! They might be 'Parting Ways!'"

  • I'm with you, Ssickmann....I don't like it. And my husband doesn't either. I know I'll get flamed for this, but I don't think it's very good at all--I like it much less than Avocado (and I don't even like Avocado very much)!!! The only songs I really like are "Got Some" and "Supersonic"...a couple of others are okay, and some are just downright bad. Let the flaming begin, lol!

ya know I haven't seen much bitching either. I've seen some people say that don't like it. But I haven't seen any "it fucking sucks" posts.

All of my posts about Backspacer have been the same....I don't know what to make of it. Nothing is great. Nothing is horrible. It's all just pretty good....which is all I ask for.

Streaming music should be ilegal, too, for this reason. Music on your computer sux. It has no organic flow to it.
Wait till you get the cd. Or better yet, experience vinyl.

  • I just don't get it....I just got the CD today and I'm in love with it. There have been very few creative or descriptive reasons why, from those who don't like this album. What's not to like?

  • I love this album. Listen to it closely, smoke a joint if you have to or have some wine.

I'll tell you what it sounds like.....brilliance! Its progressive, its backward. it rocks, it provokes, it'll make you cry.

If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

I, however, will ride the wave where it takes me...........

It's a special album. A true piece of art.

I have a headache from coughing for four days, and I'm stuck on repeat.

One more song, then to bed. [song ends]
I have to hear this one once more, too. [song ends]
Well this next one is already queued up. [song ends]
And this one, but just once. [song ends]
As long as I've gone this far... [song ends]

    Ad nauseum :D

There was a post intimating as much on here earlier. You knew it was coming.

I think the last song on the next album should be called "We Are Breaking Up! See Ya Suckers!"

and there were ones when he played the song solo...i've never understood the thinking :?

in the npr story i heard today, stone said they were going to try to learn from this experience (in reference to selling directly through target) so they can do better "on their next album". also the lyrics don't suggest a metaphor for anything about the band, imo.

That was kinda my point . . It isn't really the kind of material that drew me to PJ and it feels like I've been into them for so long that I am "liking it" out of obligation rather than that it actually moves me

It's not the kind of material that drew me to the band at the beginning either but that was 17 years ago! If they were still making albums that sounded like Ten we probably wouldn't be fans at this point. That is the amazing thing about this band, they don't make the same album twice because they are true to the music and their sound grows and ages as they do. This album is perfect in my opinion.

My first reaction after listening this album was - wow! it's really good.

And then i thought - hmm... it's not good sign for me.
Every single PJ album before this one I thought in the beginning - it is so difficult to listen. And I had to listening it over and over again to like it. Of course I got 1 or 2 songs in the beginning which I noticed that I like them, not not too much.

And now I don't know what will happen - I just swallowed this album. I am not sure if I like it for six months...
