mike has been saying something may come out in 6 months.
it would make sense for them to put it out before they do the full us tour...by next summer backspacer will be out of sight, out of mind for the casual fans
i have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status
Does anyone know anything about a so called ep of b sides from Backspacer coming out? I've heard rumors but nothing else.
No info beyond what has been said in interviews. Frankly, I'm only going to believe it when I see it. We've heard this stuff before, things like "We have so much leftover I think we'll be releasing another album sometime next year." Actually, I am pretty sure I have heard something like that during run-up for two albums over the last 10 years.
I am content with the pace at which they release albums. But, man, I *really* want to hear that epic 9-minute song Ed came up with that didn't make the album. That HAS to be on the EP!
Mike McCready said in a radio interview that there was stuff left over and they may release an album (or EP) next year. Springsteen basically did the same thing with BoB (Magic and Working on a Dream).
Ed also talked about keeping the unreleased stuff to themselves and not "whoring" them out as B-sides...which seems to indicate that the band has some plans for them in the near future.

That would make sense. It's not Pearl Jam's style to release a ton of single. Chances are they won't still be releasing radio songs off of this one when they tour next year, so they may want something to put out there.

What's this one all about? Never read that.
I do remember reading that the early music for the Fixer was much longer and Ed took it and molded it into the end result, but that was Matt Cameron's song.

Not so. Kings of Leon was released last September and it really took off in the spring and this summer.

Yeah, but that's KoL. Except for 10, when has Pearl Jam ever worked that way? I mean, I guess I agree it's possible in theory, but to make it happen they'd have to keep pushing radio singles. Only by the Night has had *4* singles so far.

What ever happened to a good old double cd release. If they've got enough material for a ep or another album why not release a double? Something like Led Zepplin Pysical Graffiti would be sweet

I think with this album Pearl Jam can keep pushing singles. The past few albums have had some complicated songs that wouldn't work well on the radio. Backspacer is full of catchy potential hits. I can see them pushing Got Some, Amongst the Waves, Force of Nature, even Just Breathe.. I think Backspacer has a sleeper hit in it somewhere.

Binaural was originally going to be a double LP. Given the quality of some of that material (though I know some would disagree with my feeling about that album) I am glad they kept it to one disc.
I have mixed feelings about double albums. Sometimes they feel like one album with 12 b-sides added on along with a higher pricetag (RHCP's Stadium Arcadium, for example), while others can be rock solid all the way through. (Mellon Collie, anyone?) Personally, I'd rather have a concise album of fantastic material than a double album bloated with filler. I'm even dubious about 70-minute one-disc albums much of the time.

I think it would be cool if they played it LIVE ONLY, and released it waaaaayy later, if at all. I dig bootleg-only songs. Especially if it has such a long jam element to it. Killer.

Word. I completely agree. Doubt it will happen, though.

I think Kings of Leon really took off more than "Only by the Night" did. That just happened to be the album at the time.

Ed said they won't and that they should look for the next group of tunes for a new album, instead.
