Anyone else here a fan? Best known for The Illuminatus! Trilogy and Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy. I have read both of those, Cosmic Trigger, and I'm currently working on Prometheus Rising (which might be the best one yet).

My review of The Illuminatus! Trilogy:

An epic novel written in the stream of consciousness method originated by James Joyce. And like Joyce’s Ulysses and Finnegan’s Wake, people tend to either hate it or love it. Personally, I absolutely love this book, all 950 pages. A satirical look at conspiracy theories, some of which may not actually be satire – but that is left up to the reader to decide. This book plays with subjects such as metaphysics, discordian philosophy, the Goddess Eris (goddess of chaos), and of course drugs and sex – all while leading the reader on a hunt for the illuminati’s true members, ideals and goals (or do they even exist at all?). Like a bad trip, this book will give you a sense that you have it all figured out, then everything is torn apart and boundaries are not only torn down but are deconstructed completely, leaving you looking for at least one bedrock principle to grasp on to and maintain sanity. My only criticism is that a seemingly infinite number of characters may tangle up the plot a bit, but that is a small matter compared to the entertainment, knowledge, and almost mystical experience that this book provides. If you can judge a book by the dreams it evokes and the madness of those dreams, then The Illuminatus! Trilogy may be the best book I’ve ever read. An acid trip within a book!

I saw a documentary about him a few years back on Channel 4 in the U.K. I've seen his name bandied about quite a bit - mostly in the magazine 'Fortean Times' , but I don't know too much about him.

Edit: He was also a member of the panel of the Nova Convention with William S. Burroughs.

He is my favorite writer of all time!!!

Pardon my tardiness. I once again find myself asking (about a post), "how did I miss this????"

Along with Oona, I often use "Eris" as a pseudonym. Helps me identify the fnords :D

    I strongly recommend "Cosmic Trigger."
  • As far as an "excercise" for your brain, I'd also recommend Prometheus Rising.

Anyone read Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy? I'm trying to decide if I should read that or Quantum Psychology next.

Nice apple. Is that for me? :D

I've read those both, and there is really no "wrong" way to go. If it were me, I think I'd read "Quantum Psychology" first, but for no good reason at all.

Pick one and dive in, I suppose!
