Thats pretty cool. I liked it better than the official video! :o
  • "Plus exclusive content" I was really hoping that all the CDs would be the same no matter where you bought your copy. This seems to illustrate that the 2 concert downloads will only be from copies purchased from Target. This conficts with reports I'm reading on here about copies purchased from indie stores that have a sticker on them saying you get 2 concert downloads. It would be really nice if once and for all, we had a definitive answer to the real and actual differences between purchasing this from Target, 10Club, indies stores, and iTunes. I don't understand why this is so difficult. Confused customers = unhappy customers.

The background screens now make sense to me. Pretty rad for an ad!

So since we pre-ordered it we don't get the exclusive content videos what not? That kind of sucks.
Love the CD, but would have liked the bonus stuff. Maybe will stumble upon it somewhere?

kinda makes me cringe to see the target logo swirling in the background of this pearl jam commercial, but it makes it better knowing that they didn't have to cut out the middle man in this deal..........

The Target logo means nothing to me so I guess it looks cool still, if it was an ASDAs or TESCOs or summit that would be a different matter...

I picked up a copy of the album in hmv today. Free downloads included. 10c told me a month ago that wouldn't be the case. Seems that being the only big retailer to stock the album is the only exclusive part of the deal for Target.
When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
    Chasing something in the night.

I'm happy for them too but I agree with you, the commercial is a bit hard to swallow.

Saw this last night during Conan. The commercial wasn't anything special. It was pretty damn weird seeing PJ in a Target commercial. But you do what you gotta do these days with how fucked up the music business is.

Yeah- there's no other way to double to triple your income per CD sold as per Stone's comments. :)

The target thing just doesn't sit well with me still. It just goes against the entire history of how the band has handled themselves. Oh well.

There had to be another way.
  • I can't explain why but that was difficult to watch. It just seems to be everything they have always been against. I guess it started with Verizon a few years ago. It's not that big a deal but it was just odd seeing that with the Target logos and all. Cool to see them on TV though.
  • I love the commercial if only for the fact that all the uber-Liberal PJ fans will hate it. I think it's great that Pearl Jam has grown past their "corporations are automatically evil" faze and are now trying to promote their album in a tangible way.

Get over it. Move on. It's not the 90's anymore. These guys have families to support.

I 100% agree with this. It was weird for me to watch but i don't hate it and i won't lose sleep over it like some people undoubtedly will. It'd be great if more people got into them as a result of the Target thing. Eventhough it is against all they once stood for, I guess I forgot how stupid I thought some of their stances were back in the day.

Another awesome, positive post from Solar World! Were you dropped on your head as a child or forced to listen to Foreigner and Rick Astley? Something happened to make you the bitter little boy that you seem to be. I have my moments of bitterness but you far surpass me.
